Customer has a 12/82 40 series. About the only thing that it did not have was the factory clock....until today. :)

The first picture is of the clock with the pigtail harness that came with it. (Thank you Ebay AU.) ;)

The second is of the small plastic piece mounted in the dash where the clock would mount.

Well after removing everything from the dash, I was able to find the harness and realize the US trucks do not have the connector for this clock…so I just made a harness and ran the wires over to the fuse block.

There are four wires that connect to the clock, but you will only need to use three of them; A Green wire with a Red stripe is 12V constant for the memory, the Red wire with a Black stripe is 12V switched for the illumination of the clock, and the White wire with a Black stripe is connected to ground.

There are spade connectors on the back of the clock that you could easily attach a female spade crimp-on connector, in the event that you found the clock but did not find a pigtail for it also.

My buddy Navid has an 82 40 and also has the digi clock that he bought from spector about 3-4 years ago, he will be delighted to see this thread..

Poser, what do you reckon the green wire with red banding is for?

Which fuse location did you chose to wire this into? I'm imagining the 5a cig. lighter fuse would be the one?

I am pretty sure that it has something to do with dimming the clock...because when I hooked it up to power,(along with the green/red stripe) the clock was not as bright as with it not hooked up....The dimming function is really not that big of a deal....

The top half of the fuse block is hot all the time, the lower part is switched power....so I just used a tube fuse tap and attached the wires to a couple locations that were switched and hot.

I have this clock also in my HJ47 and no connection on the harness apparent, and I was paranoid about hooking power to it and frying it. The info you provided will help me a lot. Thanks!!

Glad I could help. I was debating on putting this up out here.....

What's the light(?) under the cigarette lighter for? I was wondering what the empty hole in my dash piece had originally installed...

It is just a plastic plug....it is not a light of any kind...

I am sure that someone will tell us what is supposed to be there. ;)

One of these. http://tinyurl.com/ye868f

Waytek also carries circuit breakers that will plug into the STOCK fuse block. These breakers are available in several ratings. Never replace fuses again! You may not be able to use your stock plastic fuse block cover though.

"...so I just used a tube fuse tap and attached the wires"

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a tube fuse tap?

Coolerman nailed it....Waytek is a great source for electrical connectors....part number 37063 on that link/page.

I have an '83 40 and the clock still has a power supply but the time will not set. Do you have an idea how to fix this?

That would probably be something internal to the clock, having to do with that knob on the front....I don't think that there is anything with the wiring controlling your issue.

Sorry.

hey poser, was that the clock i made you aware of? how much did you end up paying for it if you dont mind me asking.. ?

good to see you picked it up.. and that I was of some help, even though I was about 18months late in replying to your PM.. :)

So, my lover gave me a clock for my '83 for Xmas! Wow! Without you guys' help my son and I woulda' screwed it up for sure. Thanks for the help with the harness wires. We found that the green wire with red markings was a little confusing...red rings vs. a red stripe. But, everything was totally cool. Another thing we noticed is that the top part of my fuse box was not hot; the second from the bottom was.

The dimmer wire would be hooked to the headlight switch to dim the lights at night. I have an aftermarket digital compass and outside temp gauge that uses the light switch wire to dim the display.
