100 Series Rear Drawer System Build (w/picks)

Well, I just finished up my rear storage drawer system for my 100. I built most of it out of 1/2" pine and the top out of 3/4" Pine to keep the weight down. I purchased the drawer runners, latches, handles, aluminum angle, etc. from Lowes and carpet from a local carpet store. I had a bunch of aluminum tread plate laying around and cut and used them for the face of the drawers.

I built the drawers so that I can take one side out and leave the other and still be able to put in one of the rear jump seats. I am using small u-bolts that attach to the latching system for the rear jump seats to hold the drawer system to the floor.

My camera was in the shop so I was not able to take pictures during the build and only have the after shots. Enjoy!

I built the drawers so that I can fold the rear seats down and place an air bed in the back and it makes a perfect platform for queen size bed.

The last picture is the back of the drawer system that is behind the rear seats.

Wow. So very nice! I/we really need something like that to tidy up our cargo area, given the tools and tack I keep back there. If you feel like giving better details on the build, and some photos of the units removed so I could see how to copy them, I would so like to do this project.

Very, very nice. So the pop-out panels are to access space otherwise wasted behind/beide the drawers? Like where to stuff thing you don't need often but want to have (socket sets, jumper cables, etc.?). Nice. Two tiers of access based on need. Neat.

I think you should have them drawn up in AutoCAD and make the plans available for a few $$ to cover your costs. I know if I had a 100 I'd gladly pay for them.

Like I said I didn't take any pictures during the build due to my camera being in the shop, but I did do a more detailed write up on the rear drawer system I built for my 80 I used to have. I used similar method in the build for my 100 with the exception of the 100 can be split and my 80 was one solid unit. Link found here.

Yes the side pop out panels are to stuff anything you want in the empty space to the right and left of the drawers. I built hatches on hinges for larger storage that i can fit my tool bags, portable air pump and or things that I need to be able to get to without having to get out of my rig and open the tailgate.

Depending on how old your kids are you can fit 3 across the 2nd row, we've got two boosters and a big ole Britax in the middle. We have to keep the 3rd row for when the 100 turns into the school bus once a week.
