So my dad's cruiser just built a pin hole in the rear HP AC line. I've tried using some A/C couplers to fix it. But it's right at a bend where the couplers can't seal. So we're gonna have to replace the entire line. So now I'm thinking about just trying to plug up the rear AC as a temporary fix until he gets the funds and I get the time to fix it for him since I've heard that's it's a nightmare to replace. Any clue if this would be viable option and if so how much A/C refrigerant would it take. I'm guessing probably close to 1/2 a pound less.

Just did this. 29 oz

I capped the rear AC too....

Takes about 1 can to charge my system... Granted I go off the pressure gauges for stock PSIs...
I hate cans. They never work because you'll almost always over charge if you aren't super careful. I do however work at a shop and have access to a professional AC machine where I can get the refrigerant down to the gram

Also how did you cap it off. Did someone. Make a kit. Or did you just red neck some s*** and called it a day

I ran at 850g and based on the service manual guidance was a little under, so now running 900g. I need to recheck the performance with this new qty. Capped on the HP side at the Y fitting behind the bumper (machined a blank fitting) and LP side on the LH side of the bulkhead (welded a cap on the pipe).

Correct, you must pull a vacuum after opening the system.

Actual spec is 28.x ounces. +/- 1.75 oz. I posted in another thread in this forum about this topic on June 29th.
