Hello-
New member here. I do not own an fj40 but will shortly. I wanted to get any feedback on restorers. I know about tlc4x4. Way too much money. I am interested in restoredfj40.com. Any opinions would help greatly. i am going the restored route 1. do not have the time. 2. this is going to be a shop/delivery truck. Needs to be right.

You should do most of it yourself. It's acutally a fun and educational process. The trucks are fairly easy to work on....

Posting your location would be a big help.

These guys often sell restored trucks, are an advertiser here:

They do very nice work.

Welcome. You need to spend a day searching and reading the posts on this site, then start asking questions. You will learn that the term "fully restored" has lots of different meanings to folks here and you need to decide which flavor of full restoration you are after. Also, if you really want fully restored, it's a good idea to start with a sound, unmolested cruiser to start with. Good luck.

If you are anywhere near Atlanta, Chris Wade is your man for an unbelieveable restoration.

Good Luck

Firstly, welcome to MUD.

How much is too much? What is your budget?

You can buy an inexpensive Cruiser and you can buy a restored Cruiser - but you won't find an inexpensive restored Cruiser - at least not one done "right".

There are good deals out there - but they will probably not be restored.

He is a good guy and has a very nice and well equiped shop. I will be selling my friends FJ40 in the weeks to come that was restored by them and is currently on thier web site and every magazine ad I have seen. It is the red one with the 383 stroker in it and ARB front bumper.

Here are a few pics of thier work.

Best,

Shane

Shane, besides the little bezel issue, it looks sweet. How much will he be asking for it? I don't have it... just wondering...lol

Bezel issue:confused:

Mid thirty's.

It has a HUGE laundry list of upgrades from tires, OME, WARN, Ipod, color matched lined interior and so on.......I had it for a month and I was very pleased with the drivability and quality of the resto.

I think he means the bezel is upside down. But I love the look, what size tires are those on the rig?

Was going to say the same thing. There is a guy in Newport or Lincoln City , OR that does a helluva job. Aatlas?? Who is that guy? Oh and then there is Aatlas who does a great job too!

That is indeed a clean, extremely well built Land Cruiser, but not a restoration by definition. Sorry but it is a pet-peave of mine. There are not many truly "restored" Land Cruisers out there. But that is a common argument here.

Based on my idea of a "restored" Land Cruiser, I will probably never have one.

I agree with that.

Lash,

Can you give me a contact for Chris Wade (or a web link)? I'm about to buy an '82 FJ40 and want to get A/C and P/S installed. I thought you meant Urban Cruisers in Atlanta but there is no mention of a Chris on their website.

Thanks,

Greg
