What do y'all think of this one? It was for sale a while back at the beginning of the summer. I talked with the owner back in June and never deleted his texts. Saw it was back for sale so I might contact him again after a consensus is reached.

Here's what he told me when we talked a while back: It's located in Fuquay-Varina. It's a 72, 4 inch lift, he's running 35x12.50x15 tires on it, unsure of milage, he's owned it for 14 years, he's got the hardtop and doors, and it's pretty clean. He's asking $9250 but told me he was negotiable. Let me know what y'all think. Anybody know this one?

Here's the craigslist ad: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/4104880058.html

I would need better frame / body pics myself. Nothing really good for that.

Electric fuel pump. Why ?

Kayline soft top. Not in business anymore. Not for over a decade now. Good tops though. I have one but it is finally coming apart at the seams.

Some type of power steering but only see the pump so unsure which one he has on there.

Ok. I'll contact him this week and ask him about that stuff. He's got the hardtop and doors too. I'll get more pics too.

How far is this rig from darin? I heard a case of energy drinks go far with him. Especially if he could go with you to look it over.

Looks like a GM pump. Probably a Saginaw setup if I were to guess. It is hard to tell much about condition from those pics but it appears to be a fairly complete cruiser. Price has everything to do about condition. Don't let the lift and big tires seduce you into paying more than it's worth. Rust is the enemy...well that and poor rust repairs. He has rolled/sprayed bed liner on the rockers. Why? Is it hiding something? You need to know. Go see it in person or have a club member check it out for you.

Been speaking with the fabricator and painter at Iron Pig Off Road today. He had an ad on craigslist for an 80 that he was selling but I saw a 40 in the background so naturally I contacted him about it instead of the 80. Really great guy. The 40 in the pic I saw isn't for sale but there is a 40 they've got at the shop that belongs to his boss that's for sale. It's a 77, it needs rockers, a rear sill, and has a few small rust spots. That's all I know right now. He said he'd get me all the details and more pictures tomorrow. So I'll post it up when I get it sometime tomorrow.

I definitely will. Yeah rust is definitely the biggest thing I've got to watch out for. I'll definitely go in person and hopefully someone can go with me and my dad. I've got to contact him and ask him some more stuff though first. I'll let y'all know what I find out.

Idk. Darrin lives in Raleigh right? I don't know the exact address of this 40 but it's in Fuquay-Varina. They're really close right? By energy drinks do you mean actual energy drinks or beer haha?

No offense meant here, but Darin runs a shop for a living. I'm thinking actual greenbacks might be the right payment method to ask for inspection help. Not trying to be an ass here, but we have to remember there's a reason folks are always looking for his help and that knowledge / time is how he puts food on the table.

 R

None taken. I have talked to brysen on many occasion via text. I think brysen and darin will be getting to know each other very very well. Besides i thought the energy drink gag was a running joke here.

I know that, no offense taken here. If he needs/wants me to pay him for his help then I will be more than happy to. I'm already looking forward to taking my 40 to him when I do eventually have it. He know so much and I can't wait till we do finally meet in person so I can learn as much as possible from him. Like I've said before I've heard nothing but good stuff about him!

X2! I'm looking forward to meeting him in person and hopefully we will be able to get to know each other very well once I have the 40. As long as he'll have me haha.

Question. Is there a way to tell if a new tub has been swapped into the cruiser? In both pictures and in person? If possible I'd like an original tub (the steel is much stronger and sturdy. I know there will probably be replaced panels or patches though). What are y'all's thoughts on aluminum (aquala) vs. the original steel tubs (other than rust)? Let me know.

A magnet will stick to steel, not aluminum or Bondo. Dont use a neo or other high strength magnet. The cheaper and thinner the better. You should know what the dash and other bolt locations look like by now, so compare those.

Lots of fiberglass tubs out there. I looked at purchasing a fiberglass tubbed 'cruiser a few years ago and on it the kick vents were molded into the body. They did not open. Just a recessed outline of the triangular kick vents.

Bump. Still looking. Any leads? Wondering when that "one" is gonna pop up. I know it's out there but it's so hard to keep being patient cause I know the time that I finally get it is so close. Also I think I've broken through with my parents some more in the sense that we're gonna have to travel out of state most likely to find one that's in good shape (body wise-as rust free as possible) and mechanically sound too that's within our price range. Of course I'm still looking around here but there's not too many around here at the moment. Any suggestions on what states to go to? We can't go cross country or anything but I think y'all get what I'm saying. Also any leads around here? Let me know. Thanks.
