That yellow 77 was sold for $9k to Rockstar Auto and is now listed for $10,900. I'm not sure how they make any money after shipping, but they must have a system.

A magnet will stick to steel, not aluminum or Bondo. Dont use a neo or other high strength magnet. The cheaper and thinner the better. You should know what the dash and other bolt locations look like by now, so compare those.

Or a flashlight, in the case of that yellow 77.

What do y'all think of this one? It was for sale a while back at the beginning of the summer. I talked with the owner back in June and never deleted his texts. Saw it was back for sale so I might contact him again after a consensus is reached.

Here's what he told me when we talked a while back: It's located in Fuquay-Varina. It's a 72, 4 inch lift, he's running 35x12.50x15 tires on it, unsure of milage, he's owned it for 14 years, he's got the hardtop and doors, and it's pretty clean. He's asking $9250 but told me he was negotiable. Let me know what y'all think. Anybody know this one?

Every 40 is going to have problems. Go offer this guy $8k cash and take it home, then fix the little things that bug you.

Just talked to him about a 2nd one for sale in uc as well.

nothing wrong with taking your time even years to search but you got to be ready to act too

theres been some really nice cruisers posted in here. That one above looks like it could be great, and this one below looks to be a very reasonable buy. Id be calling and making plans to see these two. Worth a hour and half drive this weekend perhaps. Id be after this one. Ah if only it was a lil red 77

or see how easy it might be to unbuild this one. Ill sell you a set of 35s and offer this guy 7000 without the tires and start rebuilding if its actually solid. body looks clean but its new paint so never know and i dont see weatherstripping. The suspension may be sketchy so take someone that can look at it with a good eye. Looks like tall perches vs blocks which would be easier to remove. see a shackle reversal might be lift springs on top of soa Either way bring it down in height, put on 35s and drive responsible

or another in your back yard. go take a peak. offer 3k cash.
Amazing what a 1500-2k paint and body budget will get you.
another 2k in tune up maintenance and tires and getting up to snuff
so your in under 7500 and you can spread that out over a year or so.
you end up with a truck you had your personal touch involved in the build and know it better mechanically in and out. a good thing when you need it.

it may be a wreck or it may just look crusty on the outside but really a solid truck

Wow. Definitely worth a look. 15 minute drive. I'm sure at least one of us would be happy to go with you.

Wow for sure! We'll have to talk about it on Saturday.
I suggest setting up a meet with the seller for sometime after lunch. I suspect several if us would happily follow you over to see it. Better yet, have him meet us at Cars & Coffee or lunch.

The mustard '76 looks exactly like the one that was for sale on CL a few months ago (back in the spring). A guy had it down by Mountain Island Lake. Somebody on here knew the rig from a few years ago. I went to look at it but it was too crusty for me. The previous seller said that it ran but smoked. He didn't feel like putting a battery in it and I was in a hurry so I took his word on how it ran. I didn't spend much time in it or under the hood because there were wasp nests in the glove box and under the hood. It has an unknown carb (not stock). From what I saw the rust is repairable but it will take a lot of work...more than the seller is letting on. The bottoms of the doors are roached as is the rear sill. The leading edges of the hood and front fenders have rust through as well. It seems like there was rust through on the driver floor near the door too. The rockers under the doors on both sides are popping through. I think I offered the guy $2,500 for it but he said he had a better offer on the table...probably from the guy who owns it now. If it runs okay it may be a worthwhile look-see but don't expect it to look any better in person than it does in the pictures. I guess it's all about what you can afford and how much rust you can live with. If your answer is, "Not much and a lot." then this might be the one. Make sure your tetanus booster is up to date before you start working on it!

Here's a link to an old thread about the mustard '76. There's some better pics in here too. Check Post #6. It says something about the 40 in MT. Holly. This is indeed the same truck: https://forum.ih8mud.com/nc-olde-no...another-guy-charlotte-area-looking-forty.html

Looks like the price on that (thing) just keeps going up. I heard it sold for $2,200 from the Mt. Island home and is now at $4 plus. I could of got it at $1800.00 a couple years back and passed on it. I'm not afraid of work, but that was a little much. I saw and heard it run and it put out too much smoke back then. Just my .02 worth, but I would pass unless you want to go to ground level and restore with all new metal.

There are those that talk and those that do! Buy one already and repair what it needs.:D

I know haha. It's not that simple though. If I could just go dish out the money on one right this second I would but its not all my money. It's my parents and what they say goes, and I know they won't just go at the spur of the moment and dish out the money for one without the whole "process". I'm dying to have one and I'm sure ya'll are ready for me to finally have it too. I'm planning to have it by the end of this year or by the end of January at the latest since that's when my birthday is. I know what you mean though haha.

Just read the add for the 76:
There are a few pinholes in the typical spots (bottom of the doors, rocker panels, under rear doors, etc).[Quote} .;)
