I bothered me yesterday that I was unable to get the sunrise shot. My schedule allowed for it this morning.View attachment 2794633
Ok, after the first picture I just suspected this but now I’m convinced…………. You’re posting this to rub it in that YOU have a much better drive to work than the rest of us! 🤣

This was a 79-80 one piece steering column shaft. It was about 1/8" too long. The bearing wouldn't sit flush with the ignition key assembly. I'll add a spacer piece where the round column bolts to the firewall bracket.

Was going to install my new clam shell but found it is for RHD. Bummer.
Not a very productive day but I got a few small items crossed off the never-ending list. Re-did the front seat belt receivers and replaced long bypass hose between T.case and transmission with the short version which I should have ordered the first time. (Let me know if anyone need a long bypass hose).

Wired up the redarc SBI battery isolator in their "super winch mode." I have a warn 8274 so I like the idea. The winch is wired to the crank battery so when I use the winch, I get crank battery, alternator and a hot wire off the A(?) Terminal on the winch trips the isolator so I get the accessory battery as well...only on pull, not release. I also mounted a momentary switch under the dash for dead crank battery. This opens the SBI and I get accessory battery help with crank.

Looks like the best solution is a section of fuel hose, and then capping that with a short screw. Fuel hose will last longer than a vac cap. That is the solution I used for my fuel return line. I'm thinking 5/16" or 8mm as a guess for size?
Followed @Dizzy advice... Thanks again.

Big day today. The first time in almost 4 years that one of my 40's hasn't been in pieces. So I've dropped off the olive one for some small snags and brought the beige one home with me.

Olive one was a nut and bolt restore of a wreck. Beige one was quite nice already when I bought it but I rolled it in the mountains.

Installed my locking steering after searching about 4 hours for the keys for it. Also installed my driver door and rear hatch locks. First time I've been able to lock it up in 13 yrs, but it takes 4 keys to do it. There must be a trick to that door lock install, good thing I had the telescope magnet to pick up the retaining clip from the bottom of the door a few times.

Went to the Liberty Toyota 4x4 meet. Met @fjc-man. On the way home I went out for some fall color pictures around the house.
