Engine is pretty much back together. Just need a few parts to finish it off.

Been waiting to blast the frame ever since I stretched it twelve inches. Nice clean metal to weld on. Next is some etching primer.

You know you're getting old when you have to wear readers to Weld

How much did it cost to get the frame cost? I always wondered about those dustless blasting services that have popped up.

The guy who ownes it is a family friend, I'm sworn to secrecy on what I paid. I can tell you he did a whole 1960 Impala for $1400

So to box the frame where I extended it, I had to make my own c-channel. Welded up some 1/4" steel and then had a nice cold beer.

So I found out that my transmission is a 4L65E. It's back together with the Monster in a Box rebuild kit

Little more work on Lockjaw today. One body becomes two. Didn't realize how easy it was gonna be to separate the body. Four bolts on both b-pillars, TIG welded at the tip and bottom that needed cut, and drilled out some spot welds that run from one side to the other on the bottom of the tub.

Got the frame section where it was stretched boxed in and welded up. Just had to put the freshly cut in half body on to see how its gonna look.

Looks great! Are you planning to weld any scab plates over top of the vertical welds?

Yes, 1/4" plate on all weld seems.

Got my body mount kit in from Marlin Crawler. This will help to get the body back where it needs to be for adding my stretch.

Cool build - I'd love to do something similar. I'm going to be following. But I also want to know, what's in the next bay? Kind of looks like an Abarth Zagato.

Volkswagen Karmann Ghia ?

Yes it is a 1962 Karmann Ghia on a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle chassis. It will be front wheel drive with a 1.9L turbo diesel.

It should scoot with that TDI. Lots of custom work going on there.
