I'm lucky enough to be able to do my job at home. This is great but means that during a pandemic like this I don't move. After months of following the rules, doing nothing but working, knocking out my COVID Cruiser project list, and looking at computer screens, I decided today was going to be different. Filled the truck up with gas and headed north with the family to see something different and do something with my Landcruiser other than work on it. Much needed break from the monotony of TV show binge watching and COVID 19 quarantine. Made it to a little town called Weston,Texas. Stopped for some quick photos and then headed back. Normally this sort of trip would bore me to tears, but I am so bored already that this seemed like an adventure. Good to get out of the city for a bit.

Planned to finish 2” OME install...best laid plans right? Shock absorber crossmember is rusted off so need to fab that. U bolt plates are shot. Did manage to replace antenna, upgrade seatbelts in rear with shoulder harnesses, and install a new blue tooth stereo. All in all a productive weekend. Just wanna get that suspension done.
Keep rockin

E

That sounds like a tough roadblock, hopefully those springs are flexing soon.

Yesterday I took the truck on its longest drive to date since it landed in front of my house. I drove it down to Portland and back to pick up its new hat... a CVT Mt. Rainier RTT. The truck ran flawlessly through sun and rain, other than some sketchy steering. I checked the documentation from my alignment a few weeks ago and my caster angle is very close to 0 degrees. I’ll get some shims on order tomorrow and we should be in good shape.

Amen to that brother. And what a nice 60! One of my best friends is just up the road in Sherman.

Maybe I’ve been under COVID LOCKDOWN too long but I swear that tree in the background looks like a moose saluting you with a knife in its hand.
anyway...great looking rig.

Helped troubleshoot stuff on my friends 12ht truck, redid my front calipers and took the dogs to the park.

Installed an OEM manual antenna to replace whatever lookalike junk was on the truck before. Love me some good Texas country music stations again.

A shout out to whoever snapped off the junk one last weekend when I was lost in alcohol heaven at Total Wine.

Edit: Nobody wants a picture of an antenna. Instead, here’s a pic of what I bought at Total Wine. Local Buzz. Good stuff.

My son and his buddies were going to a car show today. They are into all these exotic performance cars. I thought it would be fun to bring the 60 series along for a change of scenery (for both me and the typical folks who inhabit this sort of gathering). As promised I saw plenty of exotic high performance vehicles. Mine was the only Land Cruiser I could find at the event. Not surprising I guess with the type of event this was but still thought maybe I would see others. Did find a nice little Toyota 4WD pickup I was sure to park near. Had a good time checking out the high end cars and was good to see my son excited about an event like this. All in all something fun to do for a change.

Sprayed CRC Soft Seal into any area I thought could be the source of leaks into my foot wells (been happening for the past 5 years since I owned it, so no big stress...). Also - Cleaned the 200, charged the battery in the RAV4, installed new seat-back organisers in the 60, received a Terrain Tamer order of parts for the 60’s 12ht rebuild (in the coming month or so)! and drank beer from the 60.. busy...

Still trying to finish OME install on rear. Didn’t know about the rubber spacer “isolator” pads. So have to get those bf I’m done. Just about got suspension cross bar finished. This will be a temp fix until I fab something else. Was a busy week...installed new blue tooth radio, upgraded rear seat belts, put down noise dampening pad under rear cargo (still need to do rear and front). Was hoping to have it all done for trip next weekend. Afraid that window is closing. 👎🏻

Call @cruiseroutfit and get the spacers that fit around the center pin to delete the need for the rubber isolator pads.

Replaced the passenger front NAPA reman caliper I installed with a new one I got under warranty. The pistons were not returning properly causing a light drag even after adjusting the MC pushrod several times.

I also installed @Fourrunner heavy duty battery cable kit. One of the dirtiest and fiddliest jobs I’ve done despite how straight forward it actually is.

I didn’t realize just how badly the truck needs a thorough degrease (and probably an oil pan gasket) but it is free rust protection 😂

Finally got around to build out the rest of my cargo area. Built the drawers. Full size sliding cutting board. Removeable dividers, 100% new wool rug I got from a job. All materials I collected for free over the past few months. Except drawer slides and cutting board. Super excited to get this in the forest.
