1980 fj40 LAND CRUISER Sought after "Late" model
Great project. Needs some work to be road worthy.
It starts right up, original engine is good. Original drive train is good. Some surface rust but no rot.
Perfect candidate to restore as we all know these late FJ40 models are very sought after nowadays.
With a small effort it can be on the road while it gets fixed up.
This a very educated crowd so I won't offend your intelligence by stating the obvious “Late”FJ40 (79 and up) already have from factory, the common "upgrades" early models are subject to, such as faster diffs for highway speeds, better engine, better ignition, power brakes, power steering etc.
Needs body work on rear quarters, floors seem to have been replaced a while...

I bought this in 1995/6 as a parts vehicle or project but other projects and life got in the way. I cut out any corrosion it has (mainly the usual place in the rear channel).
It has a very solid tub and I have a new rear channel from Cool Cruisers. I also have a spare new pair of fenders and sides/quarters, which were for another project.
I have a hard top and doors from a 1977 FJ40 (the fiberglass top will need a new channel (at least the rear part).
The front seats were stolen at some point (from a trim shop).

Hello! I am considering selling my 1979 FJ40. It has a stock drive terrain. The truck spent its life between Arizona and Texas. I sent the truck to Profitt's Restoration when I purchased it, they installed OME lift, 33 inch tires, on custom FJ60 wheels, front and rear bumper, stereo, brand new transfer case, added power steering from an FJ60, and did a baseline on the truck. The FJ also has factory AC, the hard top and doors, with a ton of other parts. The paint isn't perfect, but its good. All around the truck runs great! This vehicle went through a frame off restoration in 2017 including all new suspension, resealing transmission and transfer case, rebuilding the small block Chevy engine, adding FiTech fuel injection, adding power steering, new interior, new marine grade stereo. The body was taken down to bare metal, which exposed that there was virtually no rust on this vehicle that has been in the Southeastern US it's whole life. The interior was treated with Wurth undercoating and then the whole body was epoxy primed before going to paint. Up for sale is my 1966 FJ 40 with a 1979 2F motor. Frame on rest completed several years ago. New upholstery, many components powder coated, brake lines& cylinders, under side coated,and chrome pieces re-chromed. Vehicle acquired from AZ and present mileage unknown. Every effort made to use OEM where available.
Doors were painted but are not assembled- all hardware including glass present. Top is also included but has not been painted and needs some work. Windshield wipers work but are not installed. Tires have less than 300 miles.

Patina dune beige 1972 FJ40 with a 1970's date code carbureted Chevy 350, TH400 auto trans and a lokar shifter. OEM transfer case. Runs great and drives like a lifted 40. Posting this for a friend of mine. We are looking to see if there is any interest in my friends 1982 Land Cruiser FJ-40. He affectionately calls this one, "Sonny."
He purchased this one several years back from the original owner. It is dressed in the Olive Green (653) with classic white top. The paint has not been touched and does show a true patina.
There is rust and rust holes on the body - surface rust on the frame (see pics). The rust on the back quarters and in the foot wells are "daylighted." All repairable if you choose.
Mechanically, it's in great shape. Runs and Drives well. It has been sitting for several months but can be driven.
The Cruiser has less than 100k miles - sitting right at 78,596 miles.
