I feel like you get a super clean frame up resto with a Cummins turbo diesel, it'd go for more than $50k

at least those bodies aren't cut at the rear wheel well. that is worth a good bit, along with being rust free (if they are)

From my limited viewing, having the body be stock is what separates the men from the boys with FJ40s. The look is so much better with the factory rear wheel wells, and probably more rare due to everyone wanting to fit big, useless mud tires on these things over the years and slicing up the body.

still crazy prices for such modifications.

Thanks man! Back to the thread...I am not a fan of cut fenders either. Mine were already done so.......... IMO I think I'd rather see cut fenders than diamond plated quarters like that blue one in the auction.

I guess I need to give you one of my last two Renegade 4WD Club T-shirts ....

77 fj40 external rhino-ed just went for $46k on Barrett Jackson. Well built, highly modified...

Been watching a good bit of coverage waiting for a sighting... Finally

What's that goofy plate under the doors hiding? That is a common rust area on the 40's and it appears that the owner has rocker protection already covered with those sliders so I can't think of any reason for plating the area except to cover rust. Fuel door MIA. No metal trim surrounds on the rear side reflectors. Jeep mirrors. Better not take if off road or those tires with the rim offset will wreck the rear fenders. Highly modified, no doubt. Well built? Not so sure. $46K you say? Hmmmm..........

That's was for sale on redline cruisers for awhile.

@roadstr6 - good eye for detail, when watching it live I didn't pick up on all those mods and incorrect details. I just kept wondering how the rhino-lined exterior made it so far up in the bidding.

@forrest - do you remember the redline price?

Seems like the auction fever gets the best of some of these buyers, caught up in the excitement.

How about this one for the "well-heeled" or mental?

Spotted this 62 at Salem Lake in Winston Sunday afternoon. Small lift on it. Looked clean. Left Note but no reply as of yet.
