That one time when you out climbed the 18wheeler on a 6% grade at 6,000' elevation post turbo will make you forget about any lengthy wait times. Trust me on that.
Completely agree. My LX is 8200 lbs and I can cruise up steep long grades on the highway (5k-8k) elevation at 85mph. World of difference especially on the highway.
transfer case but that isn’t such a PITA to fix. I’ll try AT-205 first and see i
Before you go dumping that in, trace the leak. I have had a valve cover leak that looked like it was coming from the upper arch / RMS area until I traced it.

Great advice.

I have oil drip traced to cross-member underneath t-case but I'll spend more time under the car this weekend locating both leaks.

I did the same last year going to Fordyce pulling up US50 with a fully loaded Cruiser and my yota pickup trailer. Almost 10000 lbs ripping up the grade faster than I should admit on a public form. Let's just say I was passing up Diesel tow rigs towing their fully built crawlers and they could not catch up. Got some smiles and thumbs up from them =D

Everyone in here running stock injectors?

Everyone in here running stock injectors?

I am running stock injectors with a new Denso fuel pump meant for the 80 series, not a Supra. I should've thought that purchase through a little bit :bang:

I took my wife up to Yosemite Valley in the Turbo 80 for a day trip yesterday. Once again, it really makes all the difference at elevation.

Also, I have stock gears on 35’s so I’d be getting passed by 18 wheelers without the turbo 😭

I have ~1000 miles on the dual oil catch can setup so I will post some measurements/pics of the volume and nastiness prevented from going thru turbo.

Yep, I remember getting passed by an RV pulling a Jeep on a trailer. I don’t know how may F words I said to my engine as I got my ass handed to me, but it was a lot.

Yup, stock reman injectors. So far so good but do plan to replace the fuel pump with the supra version for PM.

Stock injectors that I DIY cleaned with new orings and seals. Using the Kyoson/Denso Modified high flow fuel pump for Race Supras. I opted for a few bucks more and didn't want the pump to be the limiting factor. Unused fuel just recirculates back into the tank anyway. The fuel sensor is showing good flow at 90+ PSI on cold starts. Warm and full boost I think it runs at 40+PSI. Warm idle is 20ish. I can't remember exactly as I don't usually monitor that on my gauges and am more concerned about AFR.

I've been thinking of getting upgrade injectors but it's been fine so far with original ECU and factory boost settings.

With how restrictive my stock exhaust, I’ve never seen lean conditions while on the throttle under boost.

I think that will be my next area to work on so the turbo can build boost quicker.

@spyduh - you using OEM cats and exhaust still?

Guys - need your wisdom on my AFR's. Once the rig warms up, it runs pretty normal AFR's (in the 14's) until I let off and then it naturally goes lean and adjusts. My issue is post-boost. Thereafter, it runs really rich for a good while (12-13). Any thoughts on what is causing this?

Normal scenario - driving along without having developed boost more that 1-2 psi prior to:

Post-boost:

Thanks @scottryana. Keep me honest - I thought lower AFR's were rich and higher AFR's were lean? If so, I'm running lean with in the throttle but lighter than before (letting off but not completely - just easing up).

Yep anytime you ease up the computer cuts fuel the wideband will show a lean condition. Only time to be really concerned with lean conditions above 14:1 are going to be under load in boost. If you coast down a hill you’ll see very lean conditions. Lol

What is the reasoning on upgraded injectors, are you seeking more flow/pressure?

My guess is that he is after more flow since the pressure is not adjusted in this case. The duty cycle of the injectors aren't being messed with since he is running the stock ECU. So given the same amount of "open" time, he is hoping to shove in more fuel with higher flow injectors.

yes still on stock cats and pipes. I'm close to getting rid of them. Yes, I agree the stock cats/pipes are restrictive. I've never seen past 6 PSI boost yet. I have to be hammering it hard to even see 5.0 PSI boost. But, I've got a couple of codes with lean codes so far but has been very intermittent and I could never figure out the cause. Reset made them go away for months at a time. I did just get the P0401 code and changed out my EGR modulator and haven't had it pop up again. Might be related to that, but don't know. I just changed it out and have maybe 50 miles since I replaced it and no codes. I'll know on my long drive to King of the Hammers in a couple of weeks.

Interesting... I set my overboost alarm at 7.5psi and it rang a couple of weeks back when I was seeing what it would do. I'm on stock everything.

I've been getting a lean code as well but that's been happening pre turbo so there's still a leak somewhere in my system. Using a smoke machine, i was able to find lots of small leaks and one large leak

I have one large exhaust leak at the flange where the J pipe connects to the factory downpipe, but that shouldn't trip a lean code, I'd think.
