Wow. Well done!

All of the pieces are in and test fit and shiznit is looking really good!

I got in first bid and I’m not super excited. Waiting on two other bids to see which makes sense. I’ve been warned by all of my metal shops that metal prices are going up across the board. F’ing sucks. Oh well.

See what you think folks:

Does the door not need to be taller? to cover the retaining screws? Or is it just the angle of the pic?

FYI, for the piano hinge, picked one that would allow to keep the hinge-line in the same place as the OEM Hinge. The smallest knuckle was used for the chosen pin diameter. This hinge is overkill, but going to a smaller pin diameter changes the rotation point, and I did not want it to interfere with the dash before fully open. The OEM hinge has a funky bend and offset to deal with this.

Sorry guys for interrupting the discussion on a great item to have but I noticed this same thing on my hj60 which I can't figure out what it is.

That item is AC thermostart ( 1970 technologie ) , that item is Cheap part that we use if AC circuit is broken, just put 1 side terminal to AC clutch macnetic and 1 side to 12V source input ( when the fan is on ), and it can control temperature . you can set 3 degree to cut off , the thermostart have 1 steel wire that contain gas = that part is temp sensor . that wire must put in front evaporator to sense the temperature, do not hard bent that wire , if it broke, the thermostart is fail

Just a couple updates:

• I need someone who has a RHD 60 and/or 62 that can test fit the glovebox proto, hopefully somewhat local.
• I FINALLY got the first round of pricing for production and its not pretty. The metal prices have already started increasing. I have two other shops I'm still waiting on though.

How scary was pricing?

No, it’s a per piece quote. There are anywhere from one to five pieces for any one production/deliverable piece.

What I meant was: could you pare down the "features" list to make the overall cost lower?

Metal is metal. It’s priced per ton and piece per sheet. Then time on the press brake. Adding or removing features mean little to overall cost.

If you meant features as in shelf/door/etc well that’s up to you guys what you want. I’ll be making them anyway.

Yes, I meant features like the cupholder cuts/bends and the shelf and shelf brackets... That is IF it impacts price enough to worry about. If a simplified version of the product would result in a significantly lower price maybe that's worth considering, and that is your call to make of course.
