Winch Cable Connections on Battery

Lets see how you connected your winch cables to the battery - assume the battery does not already have 4 terminals
Also assume stock cables on the cruiser
Looking for a clean setup

Or should i just replace all the cables to use a terminal like this

I bought terminals like that but never got around to getting new cables made. I just put the winch cables under the stock cable tightening nuts.

That's what I did. On both battery terminals.

I use those type on all my vehicles. Winch or not. Makes adding extra things easy, be it a winch or aux fusebox, etc.

I have a 3fe with the "stock air box and a/c so no room on the passenger side. I used one of these mounts on the driver side. I was worried about exhaust temps over there but the heat shields work very well and the battery doesn't get hot.

I can't find a better picture, but I used the military clamps with the covers on them. I've removed the clamps numerous times and they still work great.

Yes, they haven't deteriorated any and are holding their shape.

I went with Interstate deep-cycle marine batteries in my '86 FJ60 (with Warn 8274-50) and my '76 FJ40 (with Warn 8274). They have provisions for the winch cables. I use the same battery in my Lance cab-over camper.

I used the deep cycle battery with the wing nut posts for years in the 40 (also in Lance cab-over) with good performance, It was just too big to fit over on the passenger side and they make nice holders for the optimas so I went with the yellow top. The 3FE has a solid state voltage regulator so it should take care of the optima AGM ok.
