It looks good, nice work but the best is that you like the way it handles.

JS we move early nothing like getting started at 545 int he morning. by 10 we had alot done. :)
fjwagon its a good think I do like the end result cause I don't see changing it back anytime soon :)

I was backing into my garage , ther eis a slight lip at the openin and when my front tires hit it I had the bounce wobble feel I used to get hitting bumps while ging forward. gave me a flash back and reminded me what I am glad I got ride of :)

longer shackles on the front SR installed truck drives so nice. really digging it.

so I have 2 girls in 1st grade and they got picked up a few weeks back from a play date and the hot mom was driving what they termed as there vintage 4x4 a 93' landrover discovery. so my girls climbed into the back on its jumps seats. they thought that was the bees knees. so it got my tapped brain thinking and planning. started asking around and fox had one of every style jump seat so I grabed a 78 with the drop down leg and a mid 70's without the leg.

I also made an extremely beefy slick mount that emulates the wheel well mounting surface and for right now just screwl the upper mounting spots into the 5/8 wood paneling I had made for the inside sides. I may acutall pull off the paneling and weld in some tabs out of angle iron and weld some nuts to them so I can mount it a bit more solid .

so my girls love the seats. my plan is to only use them around town. I live in a small town on an island so I will have a no bridges rule for the jump seats. that will keep the speeds under 35 mph max.

So when I started rumaging through my large box of seat belts somewhere along the way I had picked up some retractable lap belts with 'Toyota' on the buckles . :) way kewl I am stoked how it all came out.

still have to mount the other side but one down. the other side has my air tank that will be integrated into the mount I gots plans :)))

as I look at the pictures of my mount I think I can use it as a land anchor for my winch

Great idea for the jump seats; that is way cool. If you did that in Australia you would have to get it all certified and engineered before you could drive the car again. God bless America:clap:

I think the only laws are for the front seats. they must have shoulder seat belts.but the rear passengers literally don't have to have any seat belts.
I ofcourse tend to over build things better be safe than sorry I guess. i guess that is why my rear springs sagged and my truck weights in at over 6500lbs unloaded. :)

mocked in the other seat which will sit ontop of the nitrous tank...

and so it has begun

well whether it was a smart move or not the v8 conversion has begun. it is at my local mechanics shop. he is a vintage chevy truck enthusiast so that aspect of the swap should go nice it's just a matter of me getting the time to go down there to work on it to cut the costs. I have an advanced adapter kit so the big aspects are covered its the little things now
thus far the 87' 2f is out and I am not sure if I am going to part it out or try and sell it whole. everything that attaches tot he block has less than 3k miles on it and was either new from toyota or rebuilt by Jim C. well you get the idea I threw to much money at toyota to get a stock 2f supped up.
so next step is mocking the engine (a crate v8 with 3k miles on it) in and then putting it all back together.....

sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but its all I got.
below is a shot of both engines. 2f / v8 the 2f is now home in my garage in the back of my trailer perfect for delivery :)

Does it get any better than this? Priceless rig (unless you want to sell it to me...)

I'm sure you'll enjoy the new found power.

me too this swap is taking a bit longer than anticipated but things are starting to go back together.

this v8 swap I am undertaking has been a lot more work than I expected. the garage it is being done at is run by an chevy truck enthusiast that has 6 or 7 chevies of all years. any way he is meticulous and it is getting done right he has it on his spare lift that he reserves for his projects and he works on it when he has lulls or when I can come down after work., which has been like 3 nights a week the last few weeks as well as 4-5 hours on Saturdays. I have been chasing down all the odd ball parts like what gas pedal to use and getting the ps line made up at a local hydraulic shop. i am using the Downey ps box that they had made up for them, while its nice and smooth and noticeably smoother than the Saginaw box I was running from Napa, you have to use their low profile fittings and their lines are 1/4" and the return line fitting on the saginaw pump is 3/8" so now I have to track down a 1/4 to 3/8" barb. :( its the little chit that is killing me. and alot of back and forth to hardware/ boat stores, Napa, autozone and hitting the interweb
it seems that it is 2 steps forward one step back.
i pick up the drive shafts Monday and today the gas pedal is due in. i don't remember the 2f going in being this time consuming, maybe its because i had a land cruiser to drive while i did that install :) for the past 2 months its been me on my bike. I would say It has a week left we'll see i thought that last Saturday too.

shes on the road again. v8 complete

my mechanic said no high rpms for the break in but my half throtle is twice as much uhmff as the old engine. I got a good engine but wow it really is nice. the auto choke is a pretty kewl feature.

the hood pad is for noise.it works pretty well. the wiring needs alolt of clean up but I am still waitin for so chevy plugs to splice in and of course the chevy wires for the distributor and carb are on the oposite sides of the truck as the 2f were. don't worry it will look purdy.
I also had to put the battery in the back of the truck. and I will be putting in a dual battery set up back there. not exactly where I want it it but it does make for more room in the engine bay.
my chaotic brake and clutch lines make it look worse than it is as well.I will get it all settled.
as far as the v8 vs the stock. if you are going to keep it pretty stock on stock tires then a rebuilt 2f should be alright. 2f is a great engine. but if you start weighting it down like I have :) and then want to tow wilth it. or if you have asperations of using the left lane on the highway then you may want to think about the v8. Although some will argue that a properly rebuilt 2f has as much power as a v8. I just did not have a budget for that. the v8 was a smart choice for me.and I love the way my mechanic set it up.

oh I must say I am quite pleaed with the radiator I got from cool cruisers its a 4 core and lined up perfectly with the factory holes on the radiator bracket and keeps the truck at 185 degrees very nicely.
