Will this 2F Fan Shroud & Air Breather Work?

Hey everyone,

When paint & body is done I will be dropping in a 1978 2F drivetrain from an FJ40. I am missing the OEM fan shroud, and the OEM air breather. Would a 2F fan shroud and air breather from an FJ60 work? Or no?

Even if it doesn't, it can't be far off.
Easier to modify that than make one from scratch

Nope. None at all. I found some aftermarket aluminum ones online, but would like to find an OEM one.

I thought so too, but Classic Cruisers said not to waist my time or money trying that because they are too different and mount completely differently.

By "air breather" do you mean the air filter housing?
If you are using the whole '78 engine then a '78 air filter housing will fit.
I bet that an FJ60 fan shroud will be too wide to fit your 40.

There are several types of air cleaner - I have the oil bath for example which mounts on the body.
If you don't have one, there are plenty of aftermarket air cleaner solutions which will do the job until you can find the right one.

Cruisermatt has an air cleaner assembly that I'm buying from him tomorrow, and getting a new filter and new OEM radiator from him too.

Cruisermatt has both for me. He's even pulling the fan shroud off one of his personal FJ40's for me. Can't beat that. I feel a little guilty about it, but he says it's OK with him.

LOL! Yep, 2 new ones arrived yesterday along with all the new rubber for everything, and all new stainless bolts & screws, and pull hooks. It's amazing how $10 here and there can add up soooo much soooo fast!

And the reason for all new stainless hardware is NOT to look fancy. It's because all these 53 year old bolts & screws are snapping off as we try to remove them to get things done.
