Lets Not Feed Shotts. By The Way Going Though That Was Pretty Daring Dan. You Have More Faith In The 80 Than I. Glad To See You Got Out With No Breakage Or Injuries From The Recovery. Also how did the 80 do? Could the motor keep up or did it bog? I don't think the MTR is the greatest mud tire in the world but it is awsome in the rocks how did they clear the gumbo for you? Just wanted to know how she fared before it got stuck. Thanks

OK....too late. I took the bait. Here's a recent shotts shot:

I second the Houston thing....sux for outdoor activity.

Shotts, I see you sent the 80's in first. Is that like on Star Wars when they send the probe in to do the dirty work? If the 80 survives then you'll give it a shot?

By the way, that's a great pic. Nice articulation. Beautiful area for wheeling.

Me no dummie. You are right! I heard this trail was a real tough one. The LX450 did awesome. While running it I figured the 100 could do it too. Two 100's had tried already. One failed and the other got damage. I went back with the 100 to give it a try because mine's outfitted a little more aggressively.

It was this trail that I learned of some limitations on the 100. It's changed my "overall" mind about the differences. The 100 was just so big, wide, and the front shocks are too soft for the rock-crawl type of stuff. I had a blast in the LX and was concentrating 24/7 in the 100. It wasn't anywhere near as fun which is why we do this stuff any how. Hail to the 80. I'd never bring my 100 to the Rubicon. No fun factor!

I will say the trail was tougher from recent rains when the 100 went. No excuses but the 100 made it (bent rear arm in two directions, dented driveshaft, re-located slider). The rock on the PS made this 4-ft ledge climb much harder. Ya slip off the rock ya in trouble. One Discovery II owner took damage here. Oh, and there's BIG rocks on the driver's side here too you must avoid. If visiting AZ you must visit Pyeatt Draw!

Absolutely. It was a totally hellacious wise-axx comment. :D

Damn though....it must have taken a few S/C 80's in tandem to free that sucker. (How's that instead? :D )

BTW...that's a cute little section of trail you got there...it does get tougher doesn't it?

That's actually an easier spot though that rock sets you up for trouble if you take the wrong line. Poor Rover. Mangled ARB and front quarter panel.

It's was the larger rocks and the dual ledges that were trouble.

doesn't get any wilder than snow in So Cal!

err...maybe it does.

Best thread EVAR!!!! :D

Hope to add to it soon....
You're right. This thread has surpassed my expectations. What a tribute to the legacy of the 80-series rig. Thanks for all of your submissions, folks. I wonder if we've maxed out the server drive(s) yet??

Keep it going....

Thought I'd come out from my lurking hole and post a shot or two..... truck is still open diffed and has done quite well.
