My truck is a 95. Wires were stamped 1995. I have 119000 miles.
I changed the wires, plugs, cap and rotor 2 months ago. I didn't notice any difference. If anything my idle seems a little rougher sometimes!

I too checked one or two of the factory wires and they were still well within specs. I'm keeping the wires, cap and rotor as spares.:steer:

I just changed mine out on my 97 with 113,000 miles. The looked to be in excellent shape.

When I bought my truck, took it to my friend who's a Toyota Mechanic, said they were the original wires..... I bought the LC w/ 278k.

The moral of the story...wires and rotors last a hell of a long time. I'm going to change them at 10 yrs or 150k miles...whichever comes first.

I changed mine at 100k miles in 2004, so I'm going to wait a little longer.

I know this is an old thread, but I just did the wires on my 93....stamped 93, after 310000 miles. I'm pretty impressed.

I did mine a few months ago, original from 96 with 254k

Base lining my rig, I changed out the originals. '92 with 235k miles @ the time (dec 2012)

Yes, but another reason to replace is electrical insulation. As the wires age the insulation hardens, becoming more prone to cracking, allowing electrical leakage, spark jump to ground, causing an intermittent miss. This happens most often when damp/wet.

It's more about age than mileage. In the old days we recommended replacing at 5-6 yrs, but plastics have improved, so now I have no problem with running them 10+ yrs.
Especially water crossings-Years ago used to hit them with a garden hose to check insulation

Did mine about 2 months ago. Original wires on a 95. 230,000 miles.

They where!
I'm replacing mine today after noticing the 1997 date. 1997 lx450 226k miles and 22 year old wires. Pretty impressed with oem toyota parts.

I replaced the original plugs and wires when I bought my truck December 2017. 1995 140K miles.

Mine are still in there stamped 1994...25 years! I have a new set...haven't got around to it.

Replaced mine could years ago. It was the original set from 95

I replaced mine last year just for the hell of it. They were originals stamped 1994. Threw in a rotor, dizzy cap and coil just for fun. No additional HP detected. Not sure why I bothered..👍

Mine are from last week:)

I replace every 30K or so and smile.

Hitting huge water puddles again in my 94 in November almost didn't restart. Just pulled original 272k wires off and put in new plugs, used '97 cap wires, rotor. Hit the water blindingly hard recently at speed, doesn't skip a beat.

I recently changed my originals - 95 with 193000 km. Definitely an improvement but that included dizzy cap and rotor and also spark plugs so...
