Those grooves in the reverse gear are part of the gear. They are normal. They're like that from the factory. See a pic of mine.
That little bit of rust on the outer edge of the teeth is not significant. The gears mesh on the flats.
You're not going to be able to tell if the tranny is good or not by fiddling with it fully assembled off the truck.
I think you are good to go, the rust is on the "non-work-hardened" surfaces.
