Search on pirate under username "BJ on Roids"

IIRC it is pretty similar to an IFS box.

Post up when you do it- I'll be doing the same pretty soon.

I decided I would look for the vains tonight which would be similar to the mini truck box and broke my first pitman puller...

From the outside of this box it looks nearly identical to the the mini...

I've done it. Just tap it like an IFS box. The only thing you do differently is swap the hoses b/c the box turns the opposite direction.

brokenparts,

I had to take my steering box and put it in a vise. I then put a puller on it and go it snug then started hitting on the pitman arm. I would then tighten it some more and then hit it some more slowly working it off. I didn't want to worry with heat so I just use the brute approach. Just trying to help get that pitman arm off.

yeah, that was my first approach... I might have got a little anixous when it didnt seem to be coming loose even hitting it with a BFH. I ended up zappin it with an impact wrench till it broke. I got pretty good distance with the piece that broke though :). I'm going to hit HF for another cheap puller tommorrow and try again. After that I'll try a quailty puller and some heat...

Yeah it takes some time but I eventually got mine off. I used a wrench instead of an impact. The impact was bending my puller too much so I changed my approach to the BFH.

West Texas rebuilt and taped my box a few years ago. I can snap a picture of it later on today if it would be helpful.

Do a search on pirates, long time ago Rob(BJonroids)did a very thorough right up with pics.

I did it a couple years ago but cannot find any pics.

ok I think I got the tapping part down... How about ordering the ram? How do I measure for how much stroke I'm goin need? Most mini truck guys got with 6'' but I'm thinkin I might go for a little more since I'm runnin 30 spline birfs.

If I run the tires all the way to one side and drop a plumb bob and mark it down from the steering arm and then run the wheel to the other side and mark it would that be a good indicator of how much stroke I'll need?
