First gas stop of the season. Last year I ran out on a blistering hot day when the gauge read 1/4 tank. Wasn’t taking chances at ~1/2 tank this year. I had parked it up for the winter with a full tank+treatment, but have put a couple trips on it so far.

The more challenging trails in the San Bernardino Mountains are: John Bull, Holcomb Creek, Dishpan Springs, Bald Mountain, and Motino Wash. They can be crowded on the weekends. We hit John Bull on Thursday and saw nobody...

Yeah right! Honestly I wasn’t a fan of it originally when I bought mine from my dad but has grown on me. I wanted to keep the original color.

Yup! At least my toes could be cool.
I like the color as well. When I was on the hunt I wasn’t that fussed about the color one way or another, but am happy it turned out the way it did. My other 2 old cars are both white (unintentionally) so it’s nice to have some color in the fleet.

Wheeled the Daniel Boone National Forest in eastern Kentucky with a few friends recently.

I’m going to make a trip to the DBNF someday soon. It is beautiful there. I have been through the Mark Twain Forest and it is a great drive too.

Fire damage takes a while to resolve the forest. Were the trout streams silted up or have they had time to clean out the silt? I flew a Bell 212 on the Yellowstone fires fighting the fires that really damaged the forest and later flew the fertilization and reseeding attempts resolve the some of the damage. A lot of trout streams took several years to come back. Beautiful photos!
