So I did the mini truck front disc swap on my 72 40
I used the 81 LC vented Rotors
What do I do for the wheel studs, as they will not set they are a few micrometers bigger than the mini truck peice that the hub bolts to
Did you guys bore those holes out? Or buy wheel studs for a different model
P.S The mini truck studs go in but about as tight as Britney Spears, And the LC are too large

If your rotors have only 6 holes , They are not the right rotors for the mini hubs.
With the right rotors and the mini front hub studs and a press , you should have no problem installing everything.
Vic

The shop I took them too for pressing said that the studs were i think almost a 1/8 inch bigger than the hole on the mini tuck peice, Do I need to bore them or should I shoot my parts guy and drive 2 hours to autozone to get different ones

I have the same hubs and rotors , no problems pressing the studs.
If you inlarge the holes , you might run into problems with the whole stud turning as you try to torque the nut. The holes in the hubs are grooved.
These studs have been discussed before.
I remember posting the Napa # for them somewhere.
Try this post.

if you run the thicker vented rotors will the mini calipers still work?

Not the mini calipers of 85 or earlier solid axle.
But later ones will work , same as cruiser calipers.
Not sure up to what year.
My 88 toy caliper was the same as my 79 fj40 caliper.

wow

So I went to autozone and the studs are no different, they will not fit says the shop guy with the press, Ive read and you guys say to have them pressed in, any other secerts to this, as I have a brakeless 40 and no answers or options

The studs are supposed to go in tight. There is no difference between FJ60 studs and mini-trucks studs. I've never used a press to get them in. I pull them through from the wheel side with the nuts. I have mini-truck bits with LC rotors on two trucks. No issues.

You might need to upgrade your brake master cylinder if you are using V6 calipers. They take more fluid to work.

I have had this EXACT problem 2 times. Autozone, Advanced, Orileys, ABC auto parts, and NAPA all have the part number in their system incorrect. I wound up going to the GD dealership and paying 6 bucks a piece for them the first time. The second time, I took calipers with me to the ABC autoparts wearhouse and told them I wasn't leaving until they took me to the bin where they were getting all their wheel studs. After sifting through them all, I found the correct one. I only did this cause I was in a pinch. If you buy the whole set from Marlin or something, they will fit perfectly.

Also, if you do try and press them in with a 20K press, you will crack the rotor...

You have the wrong rotors.. There are early ones and late ones apparently.. The early ones are bolted, the later ones have the studs pressed through.. The early ones have a 13mm hole, the later ones a 15mm hole I think.. These look like the early ones with the bolted rotors, thanks Fast Eddy.. If the holes are on the same PCD, I see no reason you cant accurately bore the holes to the correct size..

True about Autozone and Advance. But a counter chick found me the right ones. A couple buck each. I have pressed mine in and done the tried and true pull with a lug nut. No problems.

So..... what is the correct part number for future reference? ;)

Part # 641-3126 Wheel Bolt- front
That was the # from UAP, or NAPA.
The stud is slightly thicker than the original and chrome in color, must be pressed into the hub.
I won't recommend hammering it , you will distroy it.
The machine shop had pessed these studs for me many times .
These might not be the same ones used by Toyota, but they do work.

So Im going to napa today, even though I hate them and have to wear a mask to enter the store,
Hopefully they are slightly different than the others
How big of a press will it take to press them in? I dont want to crack the rotor either, any tips?

But I will say that I already got the correct part # for autozone, off this site, on another thread that says that it is the correct one for autozone, they are the same as the others that dont fit
