Alright, looking to get off the SR5 wheels wrapped in 33s and looking for 16" options. Been looking on ebay for Toyota 6x5.5 wheels and found a decent set for a '96-02 4-Runner although I am wondering if these are gonna be an issue.

1. After some reading on a Tacoma board they are saying the Center Bore is something like 67mm, I'm guessing 4-Runner of the same vintage share that size, if so than its too small for the 80 series spindles. (I'm not getting wheels punched out)

2. As long as the Center bore matches the 108mm does it matter if the wheels are Hub/Lug centric? I didn't see to many issues when I ran a 17" FJ wheel as a spare to make it home.

I'm trying to avoid going after market mainly because of cost (was looking at some KMC XD122s for $620) but I also don't want to wrap 35x12.5s on the 15" SR5s.

Options, Opinions, what have ya. Its all welcomed :)

Are these the wheels you're talking about? They're 16x7s... They fit just fine, but you'll need wheel spacers to be able to use the center caps otherwise they won't clear the front hub. I run 1.5" SpiderTrax spacers.

Also, you'll need shank style lug nuts, not tapered or acorn style. I can get you a Dorman part number for the lug nuts I'm using if you need it.

The tires are 295/75-16s...about 34" diameter.

Edit: Also, there are a lot of opinions out there about mounting a 315/75 or 35x12.50 on a 16x7 wheel. Many people have done it and say no problem. A lot have done it and said it was terrible. Manufacturers are definitely against it. I personally wasn't comfortable with it so I went with the 295/75. I would recommend researching it and deciding for yourself.

Required centerbore is 106mm.
Hub vs lug centric only matters for which wheel nut is needed.

Any OE wheel with 6 bolts will fit 15" and up.
Some might recommend spacers if the offset is not 0mm

2ELO, Indeed those are the wheels I was looking at. Thanks for mentioning the wheel spacers, it looks good having the wheels line up with the end of the flare vs being sunken in.

Golgo, thank you for the clarification. I know this topic has probably been cover to the moon and back but, most of the threads I found didn't really talk about any details of the wheels and quickly turned into a conversation about other parts on the OPs truck.

Thanks again guys!

I upgraded my wheels on my '91 FJ80 last spring. My truck still had some rare 15x6 OEM steel wheels on it, so I wanted to go up to a wider 16" rim. I considered going aftermarket. I was considering some 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic III's. I looked at some info. I gathered, but I can't find which back spacing option was correct.

I also stumbled on some posts about an 80 series OEM 16x8 steel wheel. The negative of them is that they are heavy - 44lbs each. The plus is that they are strong, potentially field repairable if you bend one, and no spacers are required. I think they also look good. I figured, what the heck, it is a land cruiser, might as well keep it beefy! So, I ordered a set of 5 from my local dealer at $161.83 each after a discount they give Mud members (American Toyota (Larry H. Miller's) in Abq. where @cruiserdan worked. List price is $215.78. In fact, I ordered them in early April 2016. I went in with the part number, and when the parts guy found the part he was concerned b/c it was listed as being applicable to the 93-97's, and not a '91. Luckily, @cruiserdan was still working there, and he confirmed that they would work fine on an FJ80. American Toyota still gives a mud discount. I just ordered some parts a week ago, and the discount is still being applied.

After install, I felt a performance decrease, but I also went from 29" diameter wheels to 33" diameter wheels.

If anyone is interested, there are also center caps available for these wheels. Part number: 42603-60180. The are just cosmetic, and Toyota is real proud of them. List price $70.02, mud discount: $52.51 ...each. I did not order them. My stock OEM center caps fit, which, after I thought about it, made sense.

Here is a post with more information about these wheels:
Are these wheels worth anything?
Includes this information from @cruiserdan, and an entertaining exchange about standard equipment.
Weight is ~44 pounds a copy, and it was the standard equipment wheel for FZJ80 1993-97

Here is a pic of the wheels with 285 75R16 BFG AT's on my '91 after a recent OEM 2.5" lift

Here is a pic from the day they were installed. Pre-lift, with tired saggy stock suspension. I had to do a little trimming on the front rearward plastic inner wheel well. There was a little rubbing near full steering wheel lock. It was very simple, and before trimming, it just sounded worse than it really was:

Well, I took the dive and did it. Instead of running genuine Toyota wheels I got some 16x8 KMC XD301 Turbines. 108mm CB, 4.5" BS 0mm Offset. $499 shipped kinda made my mind up.

Jon, I was looking at getting a set of the standard '93+ cruiser wheels but, mostly what I was finding on fleebay were sets that cost about the same as an aftermarket set. Plus I don't want my truck to look too much like my local friends "TheTrekkerGuy" '93 FZJ haha.

Bringing up this old post as it seemed better than a new one.
I bought some 97’ factory wheels from an FJZ80. They don’t want to clear the hub on my 91’ FJ80.

Should they clear without modification?
Thanks,
CJ

How much lift do you have? Any updates on how the wheel are doing?
