Probably not one of my smarter moves but loaded up the 7k trailer and drove down to Hollywood this morning and bought this forklift (weighs about 9700lbs).
4k lb capacity, side shift, 3-stage, and has the fourth lever for a future fork positioner. Doesn’t run, but cranked over and sounded like compression was ok so I paid the $1200 and headed home. around Fellsmere sheared all the lugs off one of the trailer hubs, luckily a good friend lived close by and was able to bring a hub out.
Got back, pulled the dizzy cap and found the contact pin for the rotor missing. 😎
I need to find a propane tank now.
7” googly eyes are inbound already.

Pretty much looks like a showroom inside now.

That’s the idea! A clean place to build and fix things. Was really hoping to avoid the cave dungeon look so many shops have.

Hi Matt I have a 72 FJ40 I’d like to do a disc conversion on.
I have been collecting hard parts (knuckles, arms, hubs) for awhile now. If anyone needs a disc conversion for their 40 I have what you need in stock 😎

Hey Matt I have a 72 fj40 I am thinking of doing a disc conversion on. I have the original drums. I would also like to change the original suspension but not sure if it is better to do this before a disc conversion or at the same time or if it matters? Let me know if you are available to do the work. Thanks. Ian

Hey Ian. Doesn't really make a difference, they're pretty much separate systems. The only reason it would matter would be if you really wanted to have the axle cleaned up, like blasted, re painted etc in which case they would be removed and cleaned up and assembled out of the truck.

I can help however you'd like, send me a message and we'll connect. :)

I realized I never posted completed pictures of the C10 build I did. Got this finished up in April. Still haven't been to a dyno with it. It's insane on only a 5lb wastegate spring (guessing approx. 450whp). Like blow the tires off at any speed at will. The 78/75 spools up immediately on the 6.0 with this converter. The converter company nailed it. With the hydroboost brakes I can footbrake it to over 3K rpms and build boost and that's before touching any of the boost builder, 2-step etc in the ECU. should be quite fun to put some real tires under it, turn it up and see what it does at the track.

450 RWHP, that's probably like 600HP engine HP. Being a turbo setup and not heavily cammed, it's probably fairly docile and streetable. I love it. Nice work!
My next vehicle build will be similar. I'll have to pick your brain. I've yet to turbo an LS motor, or anything else gasoline.

we know the tire is the only place it really matters ;)
450whp is just a estimate based on other vehicles dyno results with same combo/boost.

Big news this week.

firstly, I got a absolutely smoking deal on this lathe that was for sale in Bartow. It’s a Birmingham YLC2680 and it’s going to be able to do whatever we need. Narrowing 14-bolts, modifying wheels, everything. It’s a 26”x80” with a 4” spindle bore. It weighs 8500lbs and is a absolute beast of a machine to have in a Cruiser shop. Super stoked on this.

Check out the 9ft x 55ft (!!) horizontal lathe in the background though…

The other big news is that the $1200 forklift runs and operates perfectly after a new distributor cap and some hydraulic fluid!!

We also got most of the office area painted this morning. We ripped another layer off cheap plywood wall off and are just going to rock the bare block for the lounge/waiting area. The dark grey on the door is going to be the accent/trim color for the rest of the shop and building.

You will love the forklift. Ten guys waiting around at the turn of a key. Great score on the lathe. Space fills up quicker than you think. Pace yourself🤣

Have had a few forklifts at various jobs over the years. Have wanted one of my own for YEARS. So glad to finally have one.

when offloading the lathe from trailer last weekend the lift blew the main ram hose.
dropped lathe through trailer deck.

$600 for mobile hose guy to come out on a Saturday afternoon and make a new one. Removed the original and installed new one myself.
Total forklift investment up to $2k now. Still dirt cheap around here.

CruiserMatt you have mad skills, Just skimming through this thread Really nice work !!
Thanks bro. Should be overload of more really neat stuff coming up in the next few months.

Shop progress update for this week. Managed to get the forklift stuck on the back road which was super annoying.
and dad and I got the really terrible wooden door into the main shop replaced with a new commercial steel door. This was the last major job to do on the main shop section. From here on it just finished the exterior paint and the main shop floor paint and I will move my tools over.

does anyone in around central Florida have a good hookup on pallet rack?

Great adventures Matt! Had to rebuild my main ram hose as well. Was lifting an engine when it let loose. Luckily at the base. Got to be careful. High pressure hose leak is like a knife. I opted for the all terrain forklift version that gets me on gravel without issue. I still watch for soft spots. How did you get it moved? Maxx Traxx? 🤣

Super stoked for you. Your set up will get you to be a good force on the cruiser side of things in FL. Neat! Sending good thoughts.

That forklift will be extra useful when people have freight shipped to your shop. Engines, trannys and axles or bumpers will help your customers out 👍🏽

Those commercial steel entry doors are not cheap!

No they are not. we were able to shop around a bit and get one for about $650.

Well worth it though when you consider we are able to break down the original wooden door in about 15 seconds. Not only was it shot it was really installed poorly.
