Had a great weekend wheeling. Was able to get the lockers hooked up, using a bunch of fittings I purchased at Home Depot on the way to the off-road park and worked perfectly. I think it was smoother at high speeds that with the old axles; however, that could have been due to the driveshaft issue. Either way, this thing is smoooooth. Drove it as much or more than any of the rigs out at the park this weekend, did a bunch of tour guides getting everyone out because half the park was unreachable due to flooding around manhattan ks area.

For a test drive to the off-road park, my expectations were blown away. The suspension that @cjmoon design worked awesome. Had tons of flex and worked flawlessly. Got up to about 40 mph on the main roads, with very little vibration. Remember that the gearing is about 6 to 1, so top speed is probably about 15 mph, until I get the 39 inch tires on.

backspacing on the toyota FJC rims looked about right for the big tires. Will have to get @milemarker60 to help me on picking out some nice rims for those 39.5 tires.

After the 4th bleed, the brakes worked amazing. Recall that the rear dual brakes is one for ebrake, and one for regular brakes. I was able to pull the ebrake handle and lock the rears up going downhill. Exactly what I wanted.

@kc_chevota had the brilliant idea to use a locker solenoid to run the vacuum for the lockers. So, I am looking for a normally closed 12v 3 way valve (have to vent to atmosphere when closed).

basically, like the arb locker valves I think -- although, I can't confirm they would work under vacuum the same as pressure.



Found this, but 24v.

Vacuum rated is a big deal the valve is designed for it. Good thing is you need very little volume. Cv of .1 or even .05 would be more than good for the application. 2 2ways one normally open one closed would work as well

You are going to make me pull out a tape measure.... (recall that the hubs I turned on the lathe and then added the disc brakes to will change the width) anyway, these rims I used to have 1.5" spacer on each side, and this is still wider so I would say I ended up about 5" -6" wider than stock 80 setup.

Really stuffed up pretty good I think, maybe 1/2 further out than before, but that is 5" higher than before too.

i am looking to buy rims for the big 39.5" pitbull rockers, so the outside to outside of tires will be changing.

I heard back from the first place I emailed ATO.com, no vacuum valves.

so a little more searching... however, these are still 24v. Not finding any 12v applications.

It definately has a little more flex than the original 4 link without the anti-roll bar. I wanted to jump out and take pics of it in a couple knarly sections of trails with V groves we were crossing, but it was really really muddy. Not sure if anyone in our group got any shots of it flexing out.

I don't think that I ever had a wheel off the ground. That is how much flex it feels like.

So that valve in the picture your posting, most of them in that style have two separate components, the actual valve body, and the electric solenoid, usually you can separate and swap them for different components and voltages. That may work with just a different solenoid.

I'm surprised to hear that they are not always able to work in a vacuum state.

There are all kinds of vacuum valves used for emission systems. The factory VSV valve comes to mind.
