i found this shovel at ross for $8.00 i figure for $8.00 i cant go wrong but i was just wondering what shovel most people are carrying.

I carry a small spade tip and a kinda medium squaretip/flat shovel from Harbor Freight. Work well, hold up well, and cheap enough I can survive if if I loose it or loan it out on the trail. John

I use one that can dig a hole. The best shovel is the one that fits the size of the kids you take camping with you - let them do the work

Good idea on the steel handle replacement. The HF ones I have are plastic/fiberglass whatever, so we will see how they last in the sunshine down here. John

x2 on the Fiskars shovels. Though they are made in China, they have a lifetime warranty, are all-steel, fit great in the hand and are just plain beefy. Available with long handle (my preference) and a shorter version with a D-handle
