Just wondering what kind of storage everyone else has devised for their landcruiser. Lets see it! :hillbilly:

I have two spares on the back instead of just one. Because I have two gas tanks I use the confer 5gal gas can holder that attaches to the spares, except instead of gas cans I've welded on military ammo cans.
They are good for oil and lube and keeping leaky/dirty stuff outside, trash and tire chains too. I also set it up so that the sleeping pads will lash down there keeping the interior less cluttered and they hide down behind the tire so my vision isn't impacted.

I Also use a rack on the rear of the roll cage to keep guns/fishing poles etc out of the way of the dogs.
Let's see, bow rack across the back and rifle/shotgun racks down each side of the inside roof. Oh, the bottom of the tool box is cut out and extended down a bit for more storage. Thinking of a pull out drawer on top of that.

So there's a few ideas not normally brought up.

storage

I built a box about the size of an old GI footlocker and mounted a jeep seat to tilt forward. put in 200lbs of lead to soften up the ride from those hard ass Safari springs and still have lots of storage. Never learned how to post pictures here but shoot me an email kbill45@cableone.net and I can send them that way. Bill

here is a box I purchased from mustard dog a few years ago.

Here's my FJ40 storage - an M100 trailer. This trailer will eventually be set up as a camping and hunting trailer, with all equipment and supplies on board. Just add water, ice, perishable food and clothes and it's ready to roll. (Also have a civilian Bantam trailer with a tailgate that's used as a utility trailer.) Right now we're just using the trailer with a tarp over the cargo, until we can build a metal top for it.

At one time $OR sold storage boxes that fit under the folded down rear seats. Wish they were still available. Last time I looked their $pendy dash storage box was still available. Now that I have a wire feed welder, I'll probably make some sort of storage boxes for under the rear seats, and brackets for ammo cans behind the front bumper, outboard of the frame, for oil and misc items. I'm thinking about bolting a first aid kit to the back of the passengers front seat.

Before the trailer, I spanned the roll cage with foam covered black pipe, and u-bolted them down. Then attached a car rooftop carrier. This held all of our camping gear. Expedient, but it worked. The pipes extended further than the cage and we also bolted a sheet of plywood out a few inches past the windshield and strapped down bulky items to it like the tent, tarps and water cans.

Since no one can put their feet on it anyway, I've thought about spanning the rear floor heater with metal, and putting an ammo box on top of it for storage.

One thing you never see anymore are footman loops on front fenders. This was common on military vehicles, and often tents and tarps were stowed this way.

There is a large area under the rear floor that if not being used for a second gas tank or a rear winch could be converted into a storage well. If you look for the ROTW for Aluma Cruiser his aluminum tub came equipped with such a storage well.

I'm also mounting a receiver hitch up front so I can install a bike carrier bracket. Picked up a cheap bolt on hitch at Harbor Freight, but have not mounted it yet.

Here's a pic of my son Sean. We were on a coyote and gray digger hunting trip on the White River Game Management area. The trailer worked well for all of our camping gear and several days of supplies.

I use Rubbermaid boxes that fit precisely behind my seat and the rear bench, and some shallower tool boxes for under the seat of that bench

my problem by now is that I have a hard time remembering what is in which box  - so I printed a list, which is in the glove compartment

The boxes that Brian in Oregon were made by Conferr. See below. They also made boxes that fit in the engine bay, between the front frame rails, behind the front seats if no heater is there, and also made the original rear bench seat with storage. All high quality stuff.

I'm using a Jeep seat in the rear of mine and have seen storage units under them in other 40's. What have people using for that, I need more storage and would likes to raise my rear seat. If anyone has suggestions that would be great.

What is the deal with the upside down flag as your avatar???

Bingo!

I can't argue with that..

This is the prototype of the system I hope I'll build next summer
Jake, my dog, loves riding on the carpeted area lots of traction.

The tail gate is a great place to fix lunch, the compartments will hold a fat 30cal ammo can on its side.

Or load up the gun for some more target practice.

The top is secured to the fender wells with bolts and, ...... well fender washers. The bolts go into tee nuts hidden under the carpet.

You can see a piece of Unistrut I bolted in on each side using the OEM jump seat bolts. The unistrut works a lot better than the tie downs I built into the deck. The tie downs are worthless and will not be included in the final product.
The CO2 bracket was $25 from a welding supply place a friend welded the brace to my roll cage.

i've been toying around with the idea of building my own storage system involving the common bottom drawer that seems to be popular and functional, as well as having a deep full width tool box accessible when the seats fold forward. and on top of the fenderwells encased by the oem roll bar, i'd put some cabinets. on the front sides of the cabinets behind the drivers/passengers seats i was planning to keep space open for things like a fire extinguisher or first aid kit or rifle holder. there would also still be room left over for my roll bar mounted speakers on either side of my amby doors.

here's my space planning model

Those boxes are awesome. I currently only have one on the driver's side and have been looking for the matching one FOR EVER!

Well, I'll be darned. Somehow I acquired one of the conferr boxes and never used it because I thought it went on top of the wheel wells before roll bars.

Now I see it fits underneath the rear seat.

i was thinking on how to fit up one or two of the 3 gallon ATV water carriers maybe underneath the rear tank. Somewhere with a low center of gravity.

I am NOT going to pay $80 bucks for these $5 worth of blown plastic molding, however. Unless I can find a cheaper alternative I'll have to wait for a little competition to bring the prices down, or maybe design a bracket for something already out there that will hold potable water.

on the three-D CAD model, I like the bottom boxes but something bugs me about the two side boxes asthetically. Not that that matters at all, do what you want that is just my worthless 2 cents

Awsome to see everyones enginering. I just got finished building a center console out of a large ammo can, I am very pleased how it has come out. Few modifications with a grinder and a welder and it is easy to open and close with no rattling! Guess yall can see why I asked the question, my current storage is a navajo bag and a camera case currently :hillbilly: I may be making a drawer system shortly.
