I would love some kind of drawer system or what not.., but That crap is way to heavy! (just the boxes-not loaded)
I just use Rubbermaids I have 2 of the larger, and 2 of the smaller ones. They fit everything I need, and I can take them out when I want to wheel hard..
I do have a rack that goes inbetween the roll bar behind the seats... All my lite stuff goes up there...
Claudia,, Little bit of Ducktape on the lid and you can use a permanent marker to write what's in the box
Then take the tape off when you're done..

my problem by now is that I have a hard time remembering what is in which box- so I printed a list, which is in the glove compartment

A little bored today so I thought i would add my un-completed storage projects. My rig is a 65 FJ40 and it's in a million parts. The first pic is of a steel box I made for the area between the front frame rails and the bumper. VERY heavy duty and it's flat to facilitate the don and doff of my SCUBA tank. The second pic is of a custom tank rack. It bolts to the floor and to a rail behind the drivers seat. The third pic is of the hardest of them all to build and get it right. (still not quite finished). It's of a hidden wall in the glove box. In order for it to look like it is a part of the rig it has to be assembeled inside the compartment and the false wall has to be just right.....! I don't want to bolt, weld or rivit in place. I'm getting there.

Jake, my dog, loves riding on the carpeted area lots of traction.
The tail gate is a great place to fix lunch, the compartments will hold a fat 30cal ammo can on its side.
That is EXACTLY what I'd like to have, but my woodworking skills suck. Any chance you would make more for sale? Really nice design and great work!
Can you tell me more about the tie downs? Why did your originals not work out?
I just built a storage compartment for the 40 based on yours (thanks!), and I'm trying to figure out the tie downs now.

I have Ehsan working on some different mountable storage type boxes. One is very cool with a sliding drawer that will hold something about the size of a laptop. It has a flange all the way around it and can be bolted to the floor.

So I have the tuffy console from SOR and I constructed a couple of boxes from MDF for the back. They serve as speaker boxes, arm rests for rear passengers, and storage boxes. Honestly, they won't hold much but enclosed space is at a premium especially with the top off.

Sorry I missed this post earlier.
I used the same hatch rings you find on a crawl space access for the box. The problem is that if you mount them far enough into the sheet goods to have strength they wind up underneath your gear when you want to use them. The uni-strut on the tub rail is easier to access when the truck is fully loaded. It's also nice because you can use the captive nuts that are already in the truck, cutting the strut to length took longer than installing it.
77tlc...well really i dont know...i have no kids and most of the time im run alone in the trails. i have for the moment factory roll bar but i will put the metal tech full cage..when that happen..i will ride with someone in the back and get a hard jump..you will run with the hospital $ and i will laugh my ARR...lol
That's funny... I turned mine right side up when that happened.

I have a 24" x 24" heavy duty truck underbody box mounted on my rear bumper. The bumper is from MAF and instead of mounting the cooler / gas can carrier I mounted the box. The box is lockable, weatherproof, and keeps the interior free from items moving around while in trail rides. The box holds more than you think it would. I also have the Tuffy console box. I use my M101 CDN, that I am currently sandblasting, for storage on trail rides. Sorry for the pic's using cell phone on cloudy day.
