Why haven't you got grease nipples on them? (Is it perhaps because those boots don't allow excess grease to escape?)

I always like to put fresh grease in all my steering balljoints as part of regular maintenance.
(I don't think "sealed-for-life balljoints" will ever last as long as ones that can be regularly regreased.)

I'm still running original balljoints and I just replace the boots from time to time (whenever they start to fall apart).

When I bought new 555 Brand Tie Rod Ends from Kurt @ Cruiser Outfitters, they came greased and "sealed" with the grease zerks separate. You had the option of installing them and making them "greasable" or running them as a sealed unit.

marbles - The 555's don't come with the grease fittings these days, but they do have a screw on top where you can install them. I kept the grease fittings from the TRE's I removed, cleaned them all up and safely stored away. When I need to grease them, I'll remove the screws, install the fittings, grease them up, remove the fittings, and reinstall the screws. I know it is more work to do that, but I like how my TRE's look with out the grease fittings.

FWIW - I don't wheel my rig, so they should be good, say for a few years? At least the 555's have a place for a grease fitting. Some of the new TRE's don't. :hillbilly:

Can you tell what I did to my LC by looking at the photos below?.............Yep, my Super Bright LED's came in. I only replaced the top driving light, the #67 bulb with the 67-W9-WV Cool White 100 Degree. Goodness, what a difference. Replaced the two main gauge cluster lights, and now I'll be able to tell when I'm about to run out of gas at night (which is the main reason to see the gauges in the dark, not like I will be breaking any speed limits/records in my rig). Also, I replaced the festoon (3022-NW4 Natural White) in the dash pad light and it works in my lower heater control light fixture as well, so I have another one of them coming.

Drove it! :steer: Which as anyone following my build thread knows, is a very, very rare occurrence. Took it mountain biking. Trying to get in a couple of good rides/drives before it gets too cold. It was 34 degrees this morning...winter is coming way too quickly!

Of course, my 283 has now decided to start puking oil out the timing cover gasket or oil pan up front...so...it sounds like I've found my next project...

Had a blast with my best buddy, driving 44 almost 600 miles, over three days - two nights sleeping in 44 (I remove the passenger seat back and lay a double-layer of 5/8' plywood down - plenty long for me, I'm 5'6" and Gunner's bed fits behind the driver's seat.

We slept at 5000-7000', with a cold wind howling and wild horses neighing at a full moon. We stayed warm and watched season 3 of NYPD on my little 7" DVD Player.

With the defective fuel filter (glass filter, with replaceable filter element) removed and discarded and the fuel pump sucking gas, under load, instead of air, 44 is all-powerful and a joy to drive!!

Every trip is fun, with Gunner navigating!!

Off-loaded it from the transport truck, then took my kiddo for a ride into town! Been keen on the 55s since before I could drive. I picked up a '76, original 2F with 140k, not too rusty, but definitely has the standard 55 rust spots. Frame is solid, and the floorboards and rockers are in good shape. Weatherstripping and other rubber.......not so much. Looks like I will be throwing some $ towards it here pretty soon, and cruising the forums.
