Were these aftermarket gears or Genuine Toyota?Performed the 500 mile break-in oil change on the new diffs, oil looks like I expected, gross. Did the first 20 mile tow afterwords and another after lunch, major improvements all around with the 3.9 ratio. I have a few more easy tow drives to do before it’s done, then change oil again at 2000 miles. Even with the gingerly driving required for the break-in, this is a modification I wish I had done sooner.

looking good!Decided to try some different tires for daily driving. 37” KO2s in C on my non-beadlock RWs rocking @turbo8 rings, which are sick. Compared to my worn KM3s, it’s like riding on a cloud

This makes me wonder what the Toyota break-in procedure is for new diffs before sale, if we don’t have to do fluid changes on them after install.Genuine Toyota.
I’ve thought about this as well. I bought these through Cruiser Outfitters so they didn’t have OEM paper work. The instructions Cruiser Outfitters provided were fairly standard gear instructions. This makes me wonder what the Toyota break-in procedure is for new diffs before sale, if we don’t have to do fluid changes on them after install.
I need to do this, what did you use to clean your engine bay? Looks great btw!!It is widely believed a clean engine is a happy engine. I subscribe to that therapeutic mindset, along with no engine covers.
