I'm cheating, but ran out of personal time vs. other projects. I took my LC in for routine 90k maintenance (all fluids, oils, and spark plugs) along with a proactive change out of the water pump, belt and tensioners, plus an upgrade to DBA 4000 T3 series rotors & SD grade pads, Bilstein 6112/5160 shocks w/ rear HD springs. along with finally installing my Warn Zeon 12-S Platinum on SDHQ hidden winch mount. These are the 1st big mods not done in my driveway.

Performed the 500 mile break-in oil change on the new diffs, oil looks like I expected, gross. Did the first 20 mile tow afterwords and another after lunch, major improvements all around with the 3.9 ratio. I have a few more easy tow drives to do before it’s done, then change oil again at 2000 miles. Even with the gingerly driving required for the break-in, this is a modification I wish I had done sooner.

Performed 90k maintenance at dealer: oil & filter, coolant flush, AT fluid flush, brake fluid change (brake pads at 7mm!), and PS fluid. Good to go!
The transmission felt better, more responsive; less hunting and slipping. It was time!

Were these aftermarket gears or Genuine Toyota?

Genuine Toyota.
This makes me wonder what the Toyota break-in procedure is for new diffs before sale, if we don’t have to do fluid changes on them after install.
