If the battery is out of the key relay attacks won’t work. Or the foil wrap..

Plus I personally view these hide a keys as something to use in limited circumstances like at a hiking trailhead. I wouldn’t be using it full-time.

Don’t forget that you can “put the fob to sleep” so that it doesn’t broadcast a signal and drain your fob battery. More importantly, it takes a button press to wake it up, so I believe it should be immune to discovery in a relay attack.

Press and HOLD the lock button > press unlock button 2 times > release lock button. The light will blink 4 times.

Your keyless entry will no longer work until you press any fob button to wake the fob.

Are you sure this works with all years of 200-series key?

If so that’s great info.
 
Working on a mild valley plate leak and coolant exchange. Inadvertently did the bucket challenge and it clears. :smokin:

I really don’t mind doing my own maintenance when I can just roll underneath and have plenty of room. I don’t enjoy doing anything on my minivan.
I’ll drink to hating minivan maintenance. I have to raise it for almost anything underside related. Coolant however, I can just get a bin under the fascia and use the radiator petcock to spill!

Started building a hitch rack for my fat bike. 1/4” wall tubing. Might as well make it a bad day for both of us when you rear end me.

Yeah, riding on one front bump stop for now while I come up with a plan to drill it out within that minimum space. Really not trying to pull apart the front end just to gain space to drill it out.

Was thinking of getting an air angle drill to drill it out but need to think about how to hammer in the extractor enough to get a good grip on the bolt.

What a pain in the ass simple projects can turn into.
 
Big weekend for the cruiser. Started the first few steps of my build finally. NST 1.5” body lift, BMC, front bumper, and winch installed. Still have some tidying up to do with the bumper but very happy so far.

Going to likely start a build thread at some point mostly for my own sake of keeping track of everything.

First steps done but with many more fun goodies to come 😳😏

Great tidbit - will pull the hide-a-key down, unwrap the foil & give it a shot. I did replace the battery before I stuck it in the box figuring it wouldn't see the light of day for a good long while. This trick might give it even more battery duration. That said, will still likely re-wrap in foil 'just in case'!!

Looks like a whole lot of work you got there. I like how your bottle jack crank shows up in so many places, and I have no clue what you’re using it for.
 
I’m not sure on other years @bloc. It works on my 2020 and is detailed in the owners manual.
I just dug through my 2013 manual and no mention of that feature. I'd assume 08-11 is the same, but if someone could verify that would help.

Not a big deal, pulling the battery is super easy. The end of the keyblade is even the tool to pop open the shell. The most toyota thing ever.

Probably about 25 hours into everything so definitely a good bit of work but I’m happy with how it’s turned out. The bottle jack was used to lift the body off the frame for the body lift. Pretty tedious but also should be helpful when it comes time to fit 37s

Started whipping up some sliders. V1 is already a lot more stout than the factory LX molded steps for sure, but needs some reinforcement. Just wanted to at least get them bolted on this weekend. V2 will see 2 more support arms and fill plates for the kickout area. Has a very low angle, but much more straight than previous sliders I've done. Wife wanted a better step, and I will admit that while you can still use an angled slider for a step, this makes for a much better step than the sliders on our previous rig.
