SILVER Star
Probably a relay attack. Faraday box/pouch is the answer.. or as I've read online, find a cool vintage lunchbox to keep near your entry way and toss your key in there.

It’s not just property. They stole his time when they stole that vehicle. The time it took to earn the money to pay for it, the time and headaches it will take to deal with the insurance company, the time without the vehicle, and on and on. Thieves have taken something he will not be able to recoup. They aggressed first, violence would not be an escalation.my impulse would be towards violence, even though I know it’s only a property crime.

To pile on, time is constant. In essence, taking a part of his life that he has no way to get back. It’s not just property. They stole his time when they stole that vehicle. Yes, anything one spends significant time working on, cleaning, modding, admiring etc becomes more than property. The right judge might even agree with that kind of argument. Y2kc0wb0y in one respect is lucky that he had not owned it more than e few months, but it was a great color. Doesn’t Toyota have some kind of anti-theft provision, or is that just Lexus? It’s not just property. They stole his time when they stole that vehicle. Thanks for passing along. Is the idea to just keep this under your car using the magnet in case you lose your key?Hide-A-Key - FINALLY found a good solution after a few false starts.
When out hiking / biking / fishing / shooting / etc - concerned about dunking / dropping / losing / breaking a key. Get back after a few hours or days out, and you are SOL standing next to your 'cruiser saying to your buddy "but I thought *you* had the key...".
Cheap ($24), pretty sturdy like a micro Pelican case, quite strong magnets along with a slot for a ziptie or velcro. Most important - fits the fob perfectly. Here is the Amazon link where I found it.
To keep the keyless system from recognizing it, wrapped in thick aluminum foil before putting in the case.
Going to have to be careful now of the Venn diagram of who I park next to and who reads this thread...

Looking to get back to the project and put in the second battery. Are you still happy with the Dakota DL+135 battery and did you try the Dakota Lithium Power Gauge App?So far so good. All of the data from the couple of weeks of logging shows that the shroud/fan arrangement keeps the battery 30-40 F cooler than underhood air temps. I can't say for sure all of that is necessary but it makes me feel better. Other than that the battery itself is a great performer. So much run time for the fridge and Starlink with 135 amp hours.
I really don’t think it matters if they are spoofing key fobs. I don’t know what the next logical step would be for securing the key to the car to prevent this.Doesn’t Toyota have some kind of anti-theft provision, or is that just Lexus?
I looked in my 2011 docs, and what I was thinking of is the subscription service where you call Toyota and if you filed a police report, they disable the car remotely. It almost seems like the insurance companies should underwrite that and make it free to all insured owners.I really don’t think it matters if they are spoofing key fobs. I don’t know what the next logical step would be for securing the key to the car to prevent this.
If the battery is out of the key relay attacks won’t work. Or the foil wrap..I really don’t think it matters if they are spoofing key fobs. I don’t know what the next logical step would be for securing the key to the car to prevent this.
Only in the event I lose a key out doing something - or a similar situation. Not for ‘normal’ use in any way. Thanks for passing along. Is the idea to just keep this under your car using the magnet in case you lose your key?
