Follow up on the Rock Warrior caps, tough finding time to pick at this.

The painted caps are post-final-clearcoat (over the vinyl) with quite a bit of orange peel. Will wet sand and buff again, and then wax. Hot tip: Get some 1/4" or so foam and cut slots for the tabs to hold in place when buffing. No matter what you read on TundraTalk 1A1 Anthracite is not a match for the Rock Warrior color. Either that or they've faded horribly over the years. The good news is -- it's a bad enough match that the contrast looks intentional. I don't know about clearcoat over vinyl but I imagine they'll just get blasted off washing the wheels otherwise.

The bare caps are after a second strip, polishing with Barkeeper's Friend and applying labels. They'll get clear coated too.

Anyone who decides to attempt this; ignore the suggestion from the mfgr to use tape to lift the labels off the backing. Anything sticky enough to actually do the job is likely to mess up the letters getting it back off. Use a very sharp new blade on an X-ACTO knife to lift the vinyl onto the blade, and spend the money to get a small spray bottle of RapidTac application fluid.

In the end didn't end up trashing any of the vinyl so one order was enough to do 12 caps.

Not perfect on the alignment, which you can see from a low angle, but good enough for me and a far sight better than they started out. Also I didn't really want to try to get after every pit in the aluminum from where the clearcoat failed and try to polish as mirrors. They're just wheels and, after I end up trashing them, I'll look back on this one day and either laugh or cringe. Either way beats a meth habit as diversion.

Now I have to decide which to mount on the 200.

Also installed a Slee main battery tray for an Odyssey Group 31, bought a DCS 75ah battery and BCDC50, installed a Pedal Commander, mounted some SAE Squadron fogs. I'll get those and some other items installed next week.

This is a WIP on mounting a radio head. I like @nakman's Swiss Army knife, center stack speaker topper, but I don't think I need that much mount-ability. Yet, at least.

So this will do for now I think.

Where/how are you running the wire(s) for the control head? I have the Gamiviti center dash panel and I love being able to run the wire for my Yaesu right up through the holes in it, but I almost have TOO much stuff on there now and have been considering moving the radio head over to that spot as well.

Good question that I don't have an answer to yet. I'm waiting for a new separation cord since the other one is run permanently in the 100 and I want to be able to swap back and forth. I'll probably just come forward from the transceiver mounted on my drawers, under the door sills, then up and around the A-pillar trim.

The goal is to have it all reversible in about 10 minutes when I want to swap back to the 100. Will probably stash the cable in the dash trim by the drivers door mirror when not in use.

Where to hang the mic when it is in use is another question though.

Does your mic connect to the control head or to the radio body? The mic on my Yaesu connects to the radio body, which is nice because then it means fewer cords up on top of the dash, but then I had to run what is essentially an extension cord to make it reach the driver's seat. Pros and cons to each.

Mine connects to the head -- or at least that's how I have been using it -- but I do also have a mic port on the body. You've given me something else to think about. Much more convenient to have it mounted on the center console, I think.

Just finishing up the winch wiring. I decided to add a disconnect to limit any issues while not in use.

Now time to plan a trip.
I like what you did here and have been thinking of doing the same. Can you share the make/model of the disconnect you used?

Added some ink. Koyari-san was the Cheif Engineer of the 200 Series platform (and many other Land Cruisers) and is an absolute lover of Rankul models around the globe. I've been fortunate to spend some time with him over the years including a visit to the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum and a camping trip this last week. The team stopped by Cruiser Outfitters today to check out our operation and some of the Land Cruiser projects and parts we are working on. I had him leave his mark on a few things around the building including my 08 200's visor.

@cruiserdan had him sign his BJ74 glovebox door and got a pic in front of Dan's Cruiser together which was super neat

Then a group of us from Canguro Racing went and got some Cruisers dusty and showed them some of our southern Utah favorites.

Koyari-san is EPIC. I know he's about to hang up his cleats and while I congratulate him for that I also feel a great loss to the community.

A once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Hardwired a 1440P dash cam, also doubles as a larger mirror. Our stock one is so tiny. With so many crazy drivers out there a dash cam is a must

Nice.

I just installed one too. This is my second one however after trying one a year back. Looks like you have the type that straps to the factory mirror? Just a heads up if you off-road, I found that it moves around too much and is unable to hold a position depending on driving style.

Seems like there's common retrofit brackets for these styles of dashcams and you might be able to convert yours if you find it to be a problem.
