I’ve been trying to figure out the most affordable way to swap my halogen fogs in my Dobinson’s bumper for Diode Dynamics. After looking at the Slee kit and the Paranoid Fab kit, I found on Stedi’s site that the Type A Universal Fog Kit fit some Dobinson’s bumpers.

Ordered the Diode Dynamics Type A universal kit, removed the halogen fog and they bolt right up! Just have to swap one of the brackets from the halogen bracket to the DD kit and everything lined right up.

One side is done. I did one side completely before removing the other to make sure it was going to work like I anticipated. When removing one of the nuts on the other side, a bolt sheared. -_- so at a stopping place for the day while I figure out how I’m going to move forward.

Thought I would share this success though!

Bud Built sliders and skids install today; ended up taking about 6.5 hours after fighting with the KDSS lines for the drivers slider and the one bolt that connects the transfer case to the gas tank heat shield. Not to mention a solid half hour just to unbox the absolutely bomb proof packing they do

Changed oil using the Jewett housing and ez drain valve today. Worked great to drain housing before removal. Very happy with it. Would have been a simple job until I kicked ovef a quart of oil on my garage floor. Lesson learned be more careful and put the damn cap back on while your under the rig with a pry bar removing the filter housing. Easy day turned into cleanup mode with a trip to get kitty litter. Oh well. Learned a lesson. After clean up de died I was in a mood to detail the rig so got that done as well. Fresh oil and detailed rig! Probably get 13 mpg now vs 12 after all that !

Give us a rundown on how it performs.

I’m split but leaning towards staying out of signal while camping.
Same. I’d just assume no signal at all, but if it means I can do a couple hours of work to stay off grid for an extra day or two it would be totally worth it. So far very impressed. I can make voice and video calls no problem.

Very cool. Interested to see how it works while traveling. As long as you’re driving through overlap of the multiple satellites’ coverage, you’re set?

I’d like to give it a go, but coverage map seems to be pretty spotty for the southeast. Last I looked it would be 2023 or beyond before they’d ship anything out.

You make very good points.

That’s impressive performance as well… very tempting.

Would this be the same service for your house or is this a separate unit and billing?

Got an ARB awning mounted to my BajaRack MegaMule rack yesterday. It was very easy using Bajarack's awning mounts. I also bought the screen room to go with it but haven't yet tried setting it up.

Did you do front/engine/trans only? And which material option is this?!

I did every single skid BB offers, so front, engine, transmission, transfer case, gas tank, and lower shock guards. I don’t do any crazy rock crawling and just wanted some oopsie protection while keeping weight down so it’s full aluminum except for the shock guards which are stainless

When you get a chance post a full run down of how that works, what service is used, and where to get it.

I clicked on the link he posted, and entered my location and it gave me pricing for it and the ability to order. I didn't order it though. It might be a good way to keep working remotely while on a long trip this summer...

If you are serious about wanting service, you might want to get on the waitlist now. I got on last July and finally received my dish. I'm talking to friends who are getting on the list and they are saying 2023.

I'll be out in New Mexico sometime in the next 3-5 weeks hopefully. The areas I like travel have zero cell/data service so it will be a great test. At this point, I've only used it here at the house but speeds and latency are impressive. 90-110ms latency and ~100mbs down and ~30mbs up are pretty consistent. Here's a link to a current coverage map for those who are curious:

I'm not good at doing write-ups due to time constraints, but I'll try post something in the gear section as soon as I can actually get it off-grid. YouTube has several "starlink overlanding" videos, but the majority are outdated. This tech is evolving quickly.

Today I installed the switch that opens the tailgate from the inside when I sleep in the car.
It was a bit complicated to get the cables behind the plug because I had only about 2cm free cable but it all went smoothly.

Note: I probably should not have exchanged you the dampers of the tailgate against new. A decent effort to close the tailgate from the inside
