Found oil in the spark plug tubes. Let’s see what’s up.

Hopefully just the plug-well gaskets.
I know right... here hoping.

First one is out, definetly rock hard and micro cracked. New ones are very hard material, but not this hard. I still hope it’s these and not the tubes themselves that are sealed and pounded into the towers. Ooooo I don’t want to tear this motor apart again!

Yikes

@Taco2Cruiser Nice. My kind of tech post. With pictures!

Where do those plug-well gaskets sit?

Perhaps this deserves its own thread so it is readily searchable for future reference?

So Stedi 8.5" and some eBay led fog lights. Now i wish the LX have LC interior, where do I install that aux light switch...?

Tom - There is not a lot of space for switches in the LX. A common thing some folks are doing is either the sPOD or or Switch Pro installation. I was fortunate to be able to tap into the auxiliary switches of the Warn winch I'm using.

Are you referring to the very small, round, red-lighted toggle switch that comes with the harness?

If so, mine is mounted just inside the left tachometer surround...bottom surface, facing upward. This keeps it visible & easily reachable, but without distraction.

I really like how Stedi includes wiring to tie use of their lights to your high beams...when toggled on. Makes the massive lights far more usable when traveling through deer/moose/etc country with easy ability to turn off for oncoming traffic without reaching for a separate switch.

@Markuson - Could you get a picture of how that looks?

These photos were on my phone. Not great, but let’s you see the location and the tiny red indicator in the dark.

I’ll shoot a couple more in a bit, but for now...

That is one beat up Dr Pepper can!

And that is a pretty good spot for that switch. That light doesn't look too bothersome for night driving either. Thanks for the photos!

Ha! Ya... that was taken on the way back to the border during our Baja trip.

-That beat up Dr. Pepper can is the result of FLYING through the desert...fish tailing around cactus at high speed at the far back of the convoy. Was a hoot “falling behind” followed by “catching up” with major skinny peddle. A lot of things were bouncing around including soda cans. :)

Like the yellow. For now I put it loosely in the cup holder, but I think I will tap in to the fog lights, those eBay fog led lights are useless only cool this about them imo is the led ring which looks nice and is very bright.

The fogs I have are Rigid (#502313) and tied into the stalk fog light switch. I put yellow lenses over them to be somewhat practical in a foggy situation. We'll see if they actually assist, though I've read they do. When we go on the trails, I'll take the lenses off and run the lights standard.

Also, I picked up the 9" lights on Amazon for $100 for the pair. They're extremely bright (96W each) and the throw is very good. They're identical to the ARB version minus the included hardware. I bought some yellow lenses to go with them pretty much for looks. They clip on and off easily. I actually finished wiring them up this week and it was a breeze.

Had a car repair day today, Emmy put new balljoints in the UCA's today, old one's were shot!

Put on some new tires: AMP Terrain Pro A/T 285/65R18.
  • Load Range: E
  • Tread Depth: 15/32”
  • Overall Diameter: 32.5”
  • Overall Width: 11.5”
  • Max Load: 3,640 lbs.
  • Warranty: 60,000 mi. tread life
They’re KO2 knock-offs it would appear and I got them for $172 /tire. (AMP Tires Terrain Pro A/T LT285/65R18 LT 122R)

They’re pretty quiet on-road and they look 100x better than the Dunlops.
