What have you done to your 100 Series this week? (32 Viewers)

I've been wanting to do this for quite some time now but with different switches. Unfortunately, instead of the sunglass holder, i have a non-functional "lexus link" in that location. I've been trying to source either just the sunglass holder (which i don't think is possible) or an entire unit with homelink.

So far there are a few things I will do differently when I add the other switches and 6-switch panel up there.

The way they are now you can't read what the switches are without contorting around. If they were flipped 180°, they might be readable. Also, the mounting height makes the led's in the switches visible in the rear view mirror. I'm hoping to angle the switches to the rear of the vehicle instead of being flat with the roof like this: ---- they will be more like / except maybe closer to 15° from flat. Kinda hard to put in to words but I just wanted to put it out there for others to definitely give it some thought, at night, with the switches lit up! The reflection in the mirror can be masked pretty easily but since I have all the parts to do the new switches I am leaving it all alone until I can rework the whole thing.

Also of note, that area is a little more shallow than I thought it would be.

Figured I would try a new place to mount the rear view camera as the license plate mount became useless when I use a hitch cargo box for camping. High vantage point was what I needed to be able to look over the box but didnt want to mount it up top on the outside as it would look odd. Decided to try inside and see if it would work fine through the glass and it works great. I will eventually move it to the hatch side and center it essentially right against the glass as this was just to test. Probably just me but I had always mounted these externally never thinking that it could work inside as well. Did not get a pic last night as it was late by the time I got done but works pretty well at night also mounted inside.

A new sound from the serp belt! Hurray! This time it's the pulley that the fan is on. Just making noise like crazy. Anybody know a PN for this? Trying to get it fixed up and ready for sale.

I'm copying the install of another mud member..see the attached. I have gotten most of the wiring completed, but now I need a person that can fab up some metal and connect the plate I've purchased to the old sub location. The design will work perfectly, (for me), and the final steps happen Friday.

Nice! I installed my Yaesu radio on the opposite side, in the cubby just above where the rear seat DVD player sits. A couple times I've had to reattach the antenna connection on mine so was glad to have easy access to it. You might want to double check connection before buttoning up all the panels. Just my $0.02.

Much appreciated. That's a concern no doubt. I'd have been so shafted had I not found this photo I posted above. Really need to write up a section detailing the wiring, mounts, connections etc, for other members. Rusty_tlc gave me an excellent power scheme. I've been out in the sticks more than a few times and just wished I had weather info. These radios are cheap, if you know the cost of installing it upfront, I think more people would jump into it.

After using our rig for what it was intended for in the Rockies it got some scratches. Got transferred to upstate NY for one winter and it got infected with the cancer.

This is my first time living somewhere that they put salt on the road so I really didnt know what I was doing. I will add soap next time. With soap added I think it would quickly remove steering fluid without having to spray that area too much.

Nothing special, just installed it on Win 8.1 - my Toyota tech buddy runs it on his Win 8.1 tablet so I knew it would work. Everything worked right out of the box. This little tablet was dirt cheap - $100 - so I bought it specifically for this purpose. Works great.

Weekend road trip to the mountains - after filling up this AM and cruising some back roads while working towards the interstate to come home, I noticed this and had to snap a pic as I doubt I'll ever see 20 mpg again:

By the time we got home, cruising at ~77 mph, it was down to a more normal 15.8 mpg.

170k (owned last 50k) and aside from broken key shells, believe I had my first component failure: PS front speaker.

Replaced front speakers with Infinity 6030cs per @Arya Ebrahimi 's thread, and about to order the rears now. Great improvement already.
