Ordered a set of Weathertechs, some Rattle Trap and Megamat. Nothing exciting yet as I just got it 3 days ago.

It's more exciting than say: "ordered 22s, chopped the springs and put limo tint on the front windshield" !!!

FYI, check out www.sounddeadenershowdown.com for some good info. I bought his products and used his guide and am super happy with how quiet the truck is!

That site has a specific parts list for the 100-series Land Crusiers.... Is that the kit you bought?

More specifically, did that kit have photos that showed the recommended locations for each type of sound deadening? It wasn't clear to me exactly how each product (and amount) was applied for maximum effect.

Umm...I'm pretty sure it was my truck that he used to put together that kit :)

If you read through the threads you'll get a pretty good idea of what needs done. The bottom line is that the CDLs (dynomat) doesn't need to have anywhere close to 100% coverage to be effective. Just enough to pass the "does it rattle" test, then proceed with the CCF and MLV. It's a big pain in the butt and takes a good amount of time, but the end result is worth it.

FWIW, I didn't pull the headliner, but had the rest of the interior out.

@fireball did you use adhesive to adhere the CDL, CCF, & MLV to your trucks body? I've heard a couple recommendations of just letting gravity do its thing for the cargo area so as to not decrease the trucks resale value; and to also use velcro for pieces in the doors, headliner, and over the wheel wells. Don't know if that is too much work or not, it would certainly save me from dealing with messy and nauseous adhesives.

Smokewrench-How do you like the lift? I plan on going this route myself. Any pics? Thanks

No pics yet, but I'll get some. Impressions? I like the mild lift, as I still have young kids that need to get in and out of it. The rear went up about an inch, maybe a bit more, and the front up about .5" Hub to bottom fender on front is 20", hub to bottom on rear is 22". Still getting used to the feel of it. Definitely not as soft as stock, but I knew that. Ride is nice and tight, but the front seems a bit bouncy. Could be the OME bars, and no extra weight on the front? I have plans for an ARB bumper in the future, so I'll deal with it for now.

Downside? The extra lift in front has upset the passenger side CV. I could feel it before, but now the vibrations have been amplified.

I've read through the sound deadener showdown site and I've searched around this site to get different ideas from other Hundy owners. I have an idea to what's the best areas to get these rigs to quiet down some. It might be overkill, but I ordered 100sqft of each. Just like a BBQ. Better to have too much than not enough. I can always use what's left for another project. I'm also a musclecar guy by heart. :) I'll start a build thread very soon.

Cheers!

Whoa, kemosabe...forget the other project and sell to Mud users.

ANY of the sound dead enters is an improvement and I wouldn't think its overkill to do both...
I am thoroughly enjoying the noise reduction from just dynamaat.

Last night I used Right Stuff on the sunroof where it was leaking between the glass and the rubber seal. I also pulled the 3rd brake light, cleaned the foam "gasket", and sealed it back up with Right Stuff... Last but not least, I spent 2 hours with a heat gun, ShopVac, and paper towels trying to get all the water out of my carpet.

SPC UCAs, fox 2.0 (x4), slee diff drop and OME springs came in! Unfortunately, the 2860 springs came instead of the 2865 I ordered. So waiting continues. I almost changed my mind on what height lift I was going for just for convenience. Figuring that I'll want the 2860's someday. I hear the mod bug is addictive...

Anyway, 860's sent back. Waiting on 865's.

Got my front windows tinted. It has a hint of bronze to sort of match the factory tint in the back. I know most aren't a fan of the bronze, but I am! It looks great!

Post a pic, I'd be curious to see how that looks!

Brand is Nichrome. Funny thing is I walked in and expected it in charcoal/black. He came up to me when it was done and explained that he had this 30% tint that matched the back glass that was ordered for a customer, but that customer was a no show. They just installed it with asking me first. I'm sure they would have changed it if I didn't approve, but I absolutely loved it.

I got home a little late, and it's supposed to rain tomorrow. I'll get pics ASAP!

*edit*. I'll see if I can take a decent camera phone pic in the garage and post it.

The pics don't really show it at all, but I promised to post some. I'll have to take some with a real camera while outside to really see it.

Had my valve cover gaskets replaced, and amazing weather this past weekend so I was able to get a full detail in. First time I've been able to do so since having my windows tinted all the way around, removing the old car phone antennae and installing the OEM clear corners. I've also added weather tech floor liners front and back. Looking good for 16 year old paint! Hard to tell in the pics but the side moulding has the usual fading and will be redone soon as well.

^^ That is one CLEEEEAN truck. You need to get it a little dirty :bounce2:

So yeah. Went back to the tint place this evening and had it changed to 30% charcoal/black. It looked a little too "brown" to me compared to the back. It must have darkened as it dried. It was just messing with me every time I looked it. Happier now.
