Finally installed the OME torsion bars I bought 2 years ago. The weight on the front end was just too much for the stock bars. The difference before and after is night and day. With the proper load on the OME bars they are not too stiff or jarring in road manners. Letting them settle some, measure lift and droop one more time then off to get a new alignment.

I just recently did that too. Much, much better now. I used to bottom out the front suspension a lot when going fast on desert trails. Now it's cured for the most part, and I don't even notice any difference in comfort on the road.

I will even go out on a limb and give some advice opposite of what is usually recommended on this forum. Install the OME torsion bars even if you don't have a steel front bumper. Of course it all depends on your driving conditions...

Changing to TJM front shocks were an improvement over OME Nitro Sport shocks too IMO.

Did you personally install OME t-bars with no extra weight over the front end? There have been countless threads here on MUD about people who installed OME t-bars on a stock LC and complained about how stiff and jarring the ride was. The IronMan bars are even worse as they are larger in diameter than the OME bars. For this reason I purposely left my bars sitting in the garage until last night. I now have a ARB deluxe bumper, 12k winch, Hella driving lights, Hi-Lift on the bumper, and two Sears Platinum batteries under the hood. The stock bars were not up to the task any longer.

In fact the OME bars and springs on my LC came from a gentlemen here on MUD who installed them on his bone stock LC and then pulled them off 2 weeks later. He said it was entirely too stiff and uncomfortable to drive. I didn't argue, he sold me the springs and bars for $250 shipped!

I also took the forum advice (and being somewhat lazy) and waited until I mounted a steel bumper before changing the t-bars, however if I would do it again I would install the the OME torsion bars right away without waiting for the bumper.

With no bumper and stock torsion bars, I was blowing through travel way too quickly. It was just way too soft for my liking, but like I said, It all depends on your conditions. As my truck sits now, its perfectly comfortable. Actually, I would prefer some stiffer King or Radflo shocks now. haha It never ends...

I did and ran it that way for a couple years. I thought everything was great. I personally expected the ride to be worse and was surprised when it didn't seem as bad as everyone had complained about.

After being on here as long as I have, I have learned that the percentage of people with first hand experience is far outnumbered by those regurgitating information they have read/heard on here and elsewhere.

Of course... mileage will vary. I will say that my current setup with EVA's, radflo, bumper, etc is a lot stiffer than when I had no bumper and one tbars...

Not to turn this into a torsion bar discussion, but this brings up another point I believe holds true. In off-road situations, if you are using OME t-bars with little or no extra weight on the front end you will suffer articulation which then affects traction. The reason being is the OME bars will flex less easily with no weight on them (due to higher spring rate), thus giving you less front suspension travel off-road and then less traction.

Similar to Mxndrnks, I've been running the Ironman TB's with my lift on my 2004 for the last several months with no complaints...

I've got the Ironman lift with the foam cell shocks and think the ride is great, on and off the road. If anything, I'd almost prefer a little firmer ride -- I remember the ride in my 80 series with OME J-Springs and shocks being a bit firmer, and more solid around corners and wish the Ironman setup had gotten me to that level of firmness...

Sure, anything counts! Wheel locks were the first thing that came off my LC (PO lost the key). Just the right size socket beat onto the lock and spin with wrench. Don't use any expensive socket as most of the time they get ruined during the process.

Added three Roto Pax gas containers to my Slee ladder. I was able to squeeze a two gallon water container on the inside of the ladder and I have the capability to add another with an extension mount. An added bonus is being able to siphon gas right out of the can into the vehicle without removing them from the mount. Should come in handy on my upcoming trip to Death Valley.

Just added a set of 4 Toyo Open Country AT II tires. 265/75/16 slightly narrower, slightly taller Than the tires they replaced. Put 250 hi way and a few miles of gravel road use the same day I bough them. Replaced Well worn Micheline LTX MS 275/70/16 they did great on customer very steep gravel roads up in Meeker Colorado. This is my mostly on road work daily driver.

Just looked them up and bookmarked them. Nice speakers! I might consider these in the future too. Anything specific I need to know? Any problems with installation? I presume you are still using your stock head unit and amp.

Yes stock head unit and amp. Front speakers - the 6.5 is a direct bolt in the crossover is simple and covered in other threads but the tweeters are HUGE and required a lot of dremel tool to fit. Also can't use the little tweeter bracket for the tweeters. Rear speakers were simple just changed out mounting brackets with ones that came in he box and drill one hole per side.
They do sound good though now I just need to get a sub

Finally wired up the rear fusebox and an always on outlet for the fridge. Also wired but a 150amp blue sea fuse box for the Aux battery. And started wiring Shane's LabRak camp light to come on with the reserve lights or by a switch.

Cured my driveline clunk. It was a really stupid diff drop installation mistake that I dont' want to publicly admit. Loctited all those bolts.

Retapped my skid plate bolts to M10x1.25 since the old ones had to be drilled out.

Reinstalled LabRak rack, shovel/axe mount and awning brackets. Installed a fairing on the rack.

Put on a new set of 295/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers including a matching spare that barely clears the lateral control arm with the tow hitch installed.

Replaced headlight fuses.

Started working on replacing my broken parking brake.

Still a ton of work left to do for a trip next week.
