New control arms & panhard bar! I decided to spend a bit of money and skip the hours of rehabbing the old control arms. All-new OEM parts & fasteners. A bit of a job since the diff/axle would shift rearward quite a bit during the job and require a come-along winch to drag it back in order to get new bolts through the rod ends.

Accounting for the last week here, but…

Finished treating my doors in advance of updating the amp and speakers. Holy crap, to all of you in LC’s, do some real door treatments and discover a 1000x improvement in stereo sound. Running the stock HU and amp to aftermarket components, with resonix CLD in the doors and sound insulation on the door cards. Just worlds different sounding.

The coolant hoses must be taken off, no other way around it. Drain the coolant and do a flush while you're at it.
That sounds too much like work. I’ll let the actual mechanic take care of it while he’s doing the timing belt in the next few weeks. I could have swore I saw where people were able to do it without taking them off. I definitely don’t see how though.

Agreed, did this last summer and it had to be done this way. Also, try not to nick the O right when installing it. Dip it in coolant. Make sure to put a good amount of sealant on the housing, I went light and sprung a leak the following day. Might as well look at your belt since the top hose is off. It's a 1 bandanna job 1.5hr max.

A couple of 'quick jobs' today.

I posted a thread trying to understand why my dimmer for the dash lights didn't work, I removed it and the trim and it turned out someone had gone to replace it but for whatever reason had bought the wrong one (which had the wrong connection) and then just lived with being blinded at night!

I didn't fancy paying £75 including shipping when I have so many other things to pay for on this 04 100 series.

Found a breaker with one for £45 including shipping for that and some other screws I was missing.

Top is correct, bottom was the one fitted so it couldn't be plugged in.

Next job was changing out my rear diff oil. The pinion seal is leaking, I'm waiting on a shed load of stuff from Japan and this includes the seal, so I decided to check the level last week and it was all like this! Bought some oil, ended up getting the amount required wrong, so had to get a lift to the parts store for more oil.

Drained it all out and replaced with fresh! It was replaced at a garage by a previous owner 4K miles, but has obviously suffered some water ingress. Either way, it's all out and nice fresh stuff is back in!

Just did an overdue job - the bonnet and boot gas struts were original and very very dead. I don't have the funds to replace with genuine Toyota right now due to other priorities on this car, so I opted for some aftermarket ones to tide me over for a year or two. Paid the grand total of £20 for the 4 struts 😂

It's a huge difference!

I don’t know if this has any effect, big or small, but I was kind of annoyed of the gap the ASFIR skid plate left when I installed it over a year ago around the lower radiator area. So I cut the tabs off my OEM one, cleaned up the sharp edges and reinstalled them where they bolted up in the OEM spot. Hopefully this will prevent any debris such as branches from stabbing into the hoses.

I had the joy of finding mine were fading yesterday Thought they were fine, but 17F is apparently slow fade, bonk you in the head while checking fluids territory…

I'm installing Nitro 4.88's and e-lockers in my 99 LX470. Anyone know what these numbers mean on the ring gear? It's the 9.5 rear gear.

Thanks, after going down the rabbit hole on 33’s vs 35’s the jury seemed split.
Yup, did 33's in 2019ish, recently moved to 34's. Braking totally changed going to 34's load E (from 33 load c's) that I'm thinking of upgrading to the 03+ front calipers next time i'm doing front brake work.

From an LX owner look for one that has had the AHC delete. I still have mine, love it, but I added sliders, a Prinsu, and a Dissent front is on the way along with a Badlands sitting in my garage, so the concern of too much weight is always in the back of my mind.
My LX is built similar to yours but with a rear bumper. I had to reindex my driver side torsion bar 3 (if I remember right) splines a because I ran out of adjustment and got rear King springs. With a winch and a 1/4" front AHC sensor lift and with the rear bumper, my AHC pressures are all exactly in spec.
