Damn had you not been under the hood for a while? Thats a lot of corrosion.
haha, unfortunately it's not my daily, so realistically I don't think I've looked under the hood since about September of last year when I changed the oil. Probably going to need a battery soon too I think

Just ribbing you, but your support methods are a bit risky. Feel free to support the truck as you wish, it’s America, but it’s pretty uncommon to use a Jack as permanent vehicle support. Spending $100 on heavy duty Jack stands will be a wise investment. And for a little extra security (with the Jack stands) throw your tires under the vehicle where the frame would land.

Stuck a new fan clutch in, FCT-021. New thermostat THT-015 and gasket and changed the oil and filter. Finally have the classic Toyota fan roar at start up now. Not sure how I didn’t notice that missing.

scan gauge temps for the coolant were reading 195-205 with OAT around 95. Probably wouldn’t cut it in the Arizona/Utah heat later next week. Also noted the fan clutch never locked even when hot. Old thermostat was aftermarket.

Today after sitting on my Ironman 4x4 driving lights for months, I finally had time to wire them up and trim the control box of the winch to make it fit.

Also while I was in there, I swapped out the battery terminals from the old fuzzy OEMs to the SDHQ billet versions

Those terminals look great. All I see is 200 series on their site. Will those work with our 100’s?

Installed a set, those are very good quality. Only downside is, cannot put the OEM plastic cap over positive terminal.
Btw, those were around $50 few weeks ago so now $80+

Finished up my timing belt job over the weekend and I can honestly say it was more work than I thought it would be!!! I feel like I was being extra thorough with my work, so it ate up quite a large chunk of my time. Before I replaced the timing belt I did a full coolant flush and drained both sides of the engine block during the process. Ordering new plugs for my block drains ate up some time as well, since one of them had significant thread damage. I think I went through about 9 gallons of distilled water before it was clean.

Replaced the following, as I am about to hit 200k on the odometer:

Timing Belt
Serpentine Belt
Water Pump
Thermostat
Multiple Hoses
Alternator
Fan Clutch
Fan Bracket
Cam & Crank Seals
All the bearings and idlers in the AISIN kit as well.

The worst part of the job for me was getting the gear off the crankshaft, so I could access the crank seal. In all the guides and videos I found of doing the timing belt job, it seemed like everyone was able to slide the gear off by hand quite easily. Even after letting it soak in penetrating oil overnight, I still couldn't get it to pop off the crankshaft. I finally had to get some M6x1.00 bolts from the store and use a wheel puller to get the gear off. Then I found the mating surfaces had corroded slightly and formed a tight bond between the crankshaft and the gear, so I polished both the gear and the crank before reassembly.

They most definitely work on the 100's, just have to be okay with hacking away the old negative terminal cables.

I never had the OEM plastic cap so no loss here
Sucks I missed them for $50, but still much cheaper than the SLEE versions!

100% like new now. Few vids, pretty stoked just got this back from regas'ing shop. AC Compressor clutch cycling really well.

Cycling on/off.

Temps in car -3 celcius and dropping after 5 mins of car starting. 40 celius @ condenser inlet , 20 celcius @ outlet port.

Not sure if this will stop air going over vents, but willing to try it to protect the new condenser.

are you adding drain holes for your sun roof drains?
Great question and yes I do plan to. I have a few spots that need a custom panel at the front and back of the inner portions, and I intend to place them in those areas. I’ve pulled inspiration from some other builds, though I haven’t found any 100’s with this done. So that idea came from reading about the main causes of the rust in that area.

Getting prepared for my 4X4Labs bumper build. It’s raining down pretty hard here, so cutting out the cross member will wait until the morning, then it’s a session of fit and tack.

Take off parts will be in the marketplace (though given the size of the plastic surround, with the exception of the towing receiver, I’m probably looking at local sale only).

That stance in the middle pic looks hilarious! Your new bumper will be awesome!
