Is that a custom grill ? Rig is awesome!

Grill is from @kelly saad aka landcruisergrilles.com

Complete with 7" round headlight buckets too. Beautiful work.

I got all hot and bothered looking at dark bronze wheels, and mine were sitting pretty rough these days so I decided to bronze it up with duplicolor bronze wheel paint. I test painted my spare and it looked good. Matte and not too bright. So I did them all. And I keep telling myself maybe it will darken up here soon.....

Gun metal is in my future again soon I think. Who knows, it might grow on me. View attachment 2053126
I think the color looks good, but the fact that the lug nuts and center caps are painted too makes it look "off" a bit. Maybe paint the caps and nuts black just to add some contrast and eliminate the spray-bombed look?

Finally fixed the rattling roof rack. The bolt has been gone for years but the rattle was really bad driving across Nevada at 85 mph and I have to do that drive again soon.

Looks terrific! Are those 3 ton or larger stands? Looking to pull he wheels for cleaning on mine and have 3ton stands wondering if they are enough.
They're 6 ton. I chose then mainly for how much higher they are compared to smaller capacity stands. Plus it's added insurance.

Got tired of this ugly eye sore so I cleaned it up.

NOW, does anyone know how to disassemble this shifter to clean it?

I was on the thread for this set up and was trying to get input, maybe you could help. How would you rate the light output of the 7" versus OE headlights? Any pros or cons? Thanks!

Depends on a couple variables from my experience.

  1. Condition of old lens -- mine were polished but '98 and sand blasted- low visibility to begin with.
  2. Brand of LED -- quality output is all over the board with 7"-- BUY A GOOD BRAND! I recommend Truck-Lite or JW Speaker
  3. Lumen -- not all are created equally 5000 is 3500-6500 in most aftermarket chinese models
I first bought a set of chinese cheap ones until I figured which way I wanted to go. They were purplish in color (supposed to be , dim and blotchy pattern at best. Basically drove around with high beams on to see at night and never once was flashed by oncoming drivers telling me my highs were on. Worse than old OE output.

Move forward to the Truck-Lite Military Heated LEDs -- and it is night and day over the OE. Whitish blue color and nice strong pattern.

ONE NOTE- I have a set of non heated Truck-Lites on my 60. In Wyoming the lights would ice over and visibility would be reduced by about 50%.... So if you live or drive in winter ice/snow conditions buy a heated version. The standard LEDs don't put out enough heat to melt off snow and ice in my and others experiences.

Just my .02

Great information! I was considering higher end lights such as JW speaker or KC but was not aware of the heated versions and why one would need heated. Snow and ice conditions are definitely a factor for me, so no matter what light I go with, make sure it's at least heated...gotcha 👍

Annual trip with the family down to Padre Island National Seashore. More doing things WITH than TO the Cruiser, but I did buy a knockoff brand portable fridge and an Arkpak power station for this, and future, trips. The portable fridge in a 54 quart Costway brand for $380, same unit as the Smittybilt fridge apparently. I won't use it more than a few times a year, so hopefully it last a few years - clearly not as nice as an ARB or Dometic. Threw a 120 Ah battery in the Arkpak and ran the fridge 4 days, about 6-7 hours each day, and was at 50% on the battery. I was close to getting a front bumper but keep wasting money on other stuff so that's been put off for a while.

I also bought a little home made trailer on a whim, all steel and cheap on craigslist, thought I would mount a roof top tent and take short tent trips. We'll see.

this is a little too gold, might be my phone screen or camera but isn't bronze closer to tan on off road wheels...

its a huge improvement compared to stock

Yeah that was what I anticipated the color turning out to be. I'm gonna remove the center caps and paint the lugs black and see how it goes. I'll destroy this paint soon enough anyway.
