I'd say 0 is a no go! I think 5 is about right!
Just dropped her back off at the fab shop to cut and re-route some of the tubing! Should be all good after today!!!;p

Well it's not that I like it so much as it's typically easy to do. I had a real hard time painting this cage b/c it was very windy and cold here on the day's that I had time to paint it!
I actually wanted to paint it that hammered gold color...cage and wheels (so it would have kind of an "Iron Man" look to it
), but none of the Home D's had that color out here so I settled for the silver.
I have never got'n around to painting the wheels though. The weather is alot nicer now so I'll get around to it soon....I may even change the color too
!!
So you really like the the ride of your 39s eh? man you would think they would be pretty stiff but wow. are they as loud as a mud terrain on the street? you said earlier that they ride nice, how hard were they to get balanced?
how are the 5.29s holding up? no problems with the birfiields?

They really do ride nice especially at about 30psi and yes so far I really like them! I would buy them again (atleast that's how I feel right now)!
I had Pro Comp M/T's on there before and I honesty can't tell much difference in noise...actually I would say the XML's are not quiet as loud as the PC's!
4 wheel parts balanced them for me and they didn't seem to have any trouble with them!
5.29's are GREAT! No problems so far! I will keep this thread updated though so stay tuned!!!

U4WDA Winter Convention****A Blast!
Started off really muddy!
This was the first serious obstacle...out of 17 rigs in our group only 5 tried it and only 4 made it!

This little obstacle is nasty because you have to hop up on a rock on the right which kicks you over to protruding ledge on your left! Tight! There was a lot of glass on that ledge from busted windows!
My exo really saved the window/body here!
Carnage on the cage but none on the body!
Last obstacle...Steep decent into a narrow ravine! Dale, our trail leader, said out of the 17 rigs on this run he only recomended 2 rigs that were capable to do it....of course I couldn't let that stop me...no! I was definitely up for the challenge!

BTW I was running 8psi in the front and 5psi in the rear! These tires did GREAT!!!! I did lose about 3psi in the left rear going thru that last obstacle so when I go out next time I will run 10psi front 8psi rear! 5psi was just a little to low!;p
All muddy and ready to go home!
I drove around in Vegas once I got back and it was funny to see all the looks I got!...apparently a rig covered in red mud is NOT very common here
!
Here's my tow rig: 03 Dodge 2500 Diesel 4x4 on 35's! Awesome truck for towing!

Those meats look good, but $20 says you are on a sticky 37" that will really flex and stick to the rocks by summer
Well after this week end I will just go ahead and say you will LOSE that bet!!!
I followed a set of "sticky 37" Krawlers and did BETTER than he did
!I may change my mind but right now I wouldn't trade these tires for any other tire out there! The conditions this week end were about as bad as it gets around here (wet, muddy, slimy rocks)! Those are the conditions that I feared would be damning for my tires but they worked better than any others that I've had!!! Plus they are made to run at low psi and very puncture resistant!
I was able to crawl over obstacles that the guys with "sticky" tires had to stay in the throttle!
In their defense I don't think they were aired down quite as much as I was but still!....I found these "stiff shoes" very impressive! BTW so did everyone else watching! I got lots of complements on my tires and my rig!
;p It sounds like I'm a salesmen for these tires but I'm not! Actually I hope people remain skepticle about these tires and DON'T buy them that way they'll stay cheap!

Well she's all clean now and I thought I would show all the cage trimming I had to do to clear the 39's.
Behind the PS front tire. Not pictured is the support tube that ran from the end of the slider over to the frame. However look close and you can see where it attached to the frame. We had to move it farther down on the slider and re-route it over to the frame!
PS in front of the rear tire...took off about an inch!
DS behind the front tire...took off about 2 inches and had to put in a gusset!
PS had to cut off the resinator and re-do all the tubing under that wing of the rear bumper.
On the DS under the rear bumper wing I only had to cut off the tube closest to the tire and move it back a little! Sorry no pic!

Yeah we use that stuff on big rigs also, it helps prevent rust on the inside of the rim and helps to mount and air up but it will dry and not be much help in keeping the bead on.
