Drilled and installed the victory 4x4 roof rack. Had a oh s*** moment with the first rivnut install. Damn tool ripped out all the threads. I had to drill it back out. Luckily I was able to remove the weather stripping and find it. Also vacuumed out all the shavings.

Well, didn’t go exactly as planned. The numb skull who worked on the calipers last completely cross threaded and stripped the caliper bolts. I was able to SLIDE them out by hand. They were hanging on by one bolt each, and cross threaded as well I might add. So glad I decided to do this before a long road trip next week with my family

Went on a hotshot road trip to retrieve a Tundra box. Which turned out to have a tail light dent so bad that major work was needed. Originally described as ‘small dent easily covered by tail light’ isn’t the same as ‘backed into post and crumpled the tail light housing after smashing the tail light to smithereens’. So not to get depressed about that I still towed my trailer up the infamous Coquihalla Highway after 20 cm fresh snow. Then next day drove through southern mountains of BC to Trail and all the way back to Vancouver. Took a friend and it was an epic road trip. Towing trailer in 4Hi on the highway still got acceptable mileage and aside from realizing new Toyo R/T Trail tires really are a marginal winter tire being brand new saved them from being called crappy winter tires. New Morimotos headlights proved to be a very good upgrade. Highly recommend.

Sold my 21 Tundra to my local dealer. Went in for Sequoia parts and they hit me hard to sell it, Lol. They paid what I owed plus a payment, over blue book.

Funny how people are selling newer Toyotas for older ones . I think about it all the time. Really want a 80s series.

Put new tires on and drove 1200 miles to give it to my son. I'm really going to miss this truck. I love my LX but I've got a weird attachment to the Sequoia.

Funny how people are selling newer Toyotas for older ones . I think about it all the time. Really want a 80s series.

It was kind of the inverse in thinking. I didn't sell a new toyota for an old one, I bought an older one so I could sell the new one. Great truck, I just didn't want the payment. It was purchased for work, was supposed to get a stipend and didn't, so I was saddled with a payment I didn't want for a truck I really didn't need.

I'm thinking I may sell my 80 series too. Either that or I'm going to end up doing even more work to it.

Newer Toyotas and lexus were enticing but those payments are shockingly high. Instead of buying a new vehicle or even a newer used one (most likely having a payment on either) I just splurged on modernizing my 80 to keep up with highway speeds by having a Turbo installed at C&C.

Don't do it, it's a trick! Seriously, dealerships are struggling to get rid of the newer inventory due to all the issues. I was literally accosted as soon as I pulled into the dealership. I hadn't even put in park when dude was running over. Mine was an extra-cab with 8ft bed, so it's not like it is a super desired truck. They still managed to buy it off of me and paid more than I owed, and more than blue book....and they were happy about it. That should speak volumes about the truck you have. Newer isn't always better. It would behoove you to wait until their late 3rd to 4th year release. That way most of the issues are worked out.

I agree but my 2021 blew the rear shocks around 40k miles and now at 66k it has a strange noise coming from the front end. While not the most annoying issues, I still feel like I shouldn’t be having these issues with a car under 100k miles, let alone a Toyota.

Just to point out, 2025 is the 4th model year on the redesign. This is sort of confirmed by the engine recall only affecting 2022 and 2023, and most of the other remaining issues being relatively minor like plastic trim fitment. (yes, I know the volume knob and seat base are annoying, but they aren't critical safety or drivetrain reliability issues).

Personally - I’ve got zero interest in the new gen sequoia or tundra from what I’ve seen. This is coming from someone that’s owned 5 body on frame Toyotas in the past decade.
