I see some of them have a small square section on the front bumper drivers side and other (the same year and model doesn't) what is that for?

Adaptive cruise control. All Platinums should have come standard with it.
And its a godsend for traffic. Couldn't be more simple and perfect. I'll never drive another vehichle without at least the same performance ease of use.
