What did you do with your truck this week?

Clemson mafia right there!

I'm sorry, maybe I'm not reading this correctly… Did you say that you had your 40 over 75 mph????

You read it correctly. I can't say it was comfortable but I was alone so I figured I was the only one that was in danger. Yes, I even passed people on the highway. :steer:

It's funny, I usually drive 40 MPH in the 40 but I had to figure out where the vibration started and where it ended. I was surprised at how well it drove (considering the vibration at 55) arount 70 MPH. I was on I-26, south of Spartanburg so there wasn't much traffic either! :D I said i did it, I didn't say it was recommended!

I figured out that the Avocado CDL was locking but not indicating it....easy fix with a switch!

Easy way to figure out if your tires are out of balance, which is my guess, switch the front and rear tires and if you don't get the same vibration or it's different then they are out of balance. You can check your u joints yourself also, take it off the truck and move the join from side to side and back and forth and if you hear clicking then it's a bad joint.

Also take it to Trollhole's they can replace the u joints if needed and do anything else ya need done!

I definitely need to get it in to see Trollhole for a few things. After this weekend, I had planned on swapping the tires so thanks for the reminder. Between Football season, hunting season, etc. I have done zero work on the 40 other than drive here and there. Hopefully, January and later in the Spring will allow me some time to do a few needed things.

Thanks again for the reminder.

Hope your hunting season went better than mine. Although we are finally moving in the right direction where I hunt, seen more and more tracks so that's a good sign. Gonna hit it tomorrow to see if I can get one on the last day!

I was very fortunate this year. I took my best buck ever. Field dressed at 155#. Figured about 210 before.

Nice Job, did you measure out the rack? Time to look forward to Turkey Season.....I want a wild bird so bad for next thanksgiving I can't stand it. I've had it once and there is nothing like it!

125 1/8" If it had any brow tines, it would have been 130" for sure.

Finally got my tires balanced today. Pretty nice not having the steering wheel shake out of my hand any more. Bouncing around at 15 PSI for a couple trips had them all jacked up.

Replaced the water pump, radiator, thermostat, and all of the coolant hoses on the FJ40. Still need to replace the hose from the upper thermostat housing to the block, but it's easy access... There was a ton of RTV all through the thermostat housing - one of the bolts was installed with it. The threads were stripped bare, so I drilled/tapped it and installed a helicoil. Anyhow, after weeks of sitting in the driveway, she's back up and running.

Next up: shocks, dizzy, plugs/wires, and starter motor.

You need to start a build thread on the 40. Otherwise you are in the same boat with chuck talking about a mythical fj40 no one has seen.

i have seen Chuck's 40.......once

Consider yourself one of the lucky ones!!! It is kinda like spotting big foot, a yeti, the chupacabra, etc.

Man, I don't want to be the guy that never posts pictures of cool stuff! Here it is, back in the port with the new tire carrier. :flipoff2:
