I got the 62 on the lift today. Repaired an exhaust leak, installed the rear shocks, and fabbed a trans skid plate. It's hanging in the shed waiting for the paint to dry.

Great.:) We are still on for the 13th?

Definately...I want to get the rear locker in before GSMTR

Okay so I lied about working on the removable storage box. I found some 3 - 1/2" pioneer speakers to compliment the replacements already in the doors. These were for the upper cargo roof area. The OEM ones were weak sauce 2".
The biggest challenge was the bracket. I had to create a Franken-bracket. I don't have a good picture if it alone but you get the idea from one of the pics. Doesn't look all that great but it doesn't stick out too far and it sounds so much better.

Nothin much

Changed the spark plugs back to stock ,the bosch were not working out. Cleaned out the gas vent system and added a new vent to the filler neck. Made a high speed run down the sandy power line road by the house to work the suspension some. Other than that not much. Did some planning on a heat shield for the exhaust where it runs right by the high capicity gas tank, because I have a feeling that is the cause of the high pressures I have been getting in the fuel tank.

I got the trans skid plate installed and drove it to the gas station. It rides soooo much better with the rear shocks installed.

I'll get some next time its on the lift

Intended to pull my rack and pinion this weekend to see what's causing my power to fade. Also needed to check my wheel sensors because the dash lights lit up a couple days ago.

But....got to ACC and during the musical chairs with vehicles in the shop area, found a big puddle of 90W under my truck. Pulled back in and discover that my pass side rear hub is spewing gear oil. Pulled the axle and the unit bearing was falling apart. The metal dust shield had separated from the bearing assembly and the plastic spacer came out in small pieces, or maybe vice versa: the plastic piece disintegrated and pushed the dust shield into my wheel sensor and the axle seal. Either way, it was good that it crapped out there and not halfway back from Texas.

I called my wife and told her to bring me the spare rear axle I had at the apartment, turns out it was the right one I needed. I bought this spare from Stan (NCFJ) a few years ago and thought that it would fit left or right, but turns out only the axle shaft is ambidextrous, not the hub flange. So I got lucky that this was the right side. It meant NOT having to press the old hub assembly off the axle shaft and press a new one on...which would have put me down for a couple days to get the rear hub assembly. Also happened to have a rear axle seal in my spares kit too - I can thank Heather for ordering that for me (6 years ago).

Tapped in a new axle seal (notice the neanderthal marks on the axle flange left by Atlanta Toyota when they warrantied my rear diff).

And then spent most of my time putting the rear e-brake back together.

Surprisingly, only took me about 3 hours with lunch break in middle. Spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out at the shop.

Well, I suppose it was a bit overkill back then, but glad it came in handy now!

I am using the spares heather bought as well (bought them from my brother when he got her FJ).

Updated the GX a bit:

Fixed rear end damage from accident, getting rear latch fixed this week at ACC plus new diff fluid, oil, etc.

I also added a thumping Alpine stereo system...who knew it could sound this good? Getting the sub installed and the dash cleaned up next week...then packing for CRUISE MOAB!! woohoo!

Received and installed my BajaRack. Thanks Steve! Will get photo tomorrow.
And finished the carcass, mounting brackets and fold up wings of the convertible storage box. Convertible cause it is mounted to the truck (FZJ80) with the same brackets as the third row seats. Purchased a second set specifically for this.
Marshall you will be happy to know that the box installs and removes relatively easy. Easier than getting the seats in and out!

Working on the stereo.

Tapped the bolt holes to 1/2" on the drivers side brake caliper! Now on to axle rebuild on the spare axle.

Why are you rebuilding your spare axle, is there something wrong with the axle under your 60 now??

Both axles need serviced. I do not think I will get it done in time for gsmtr so we are gonna build the spare. I already have the locking hubs off the spare so.....
