What did you do with your truck this week? (1 Viewer)

Love, Love, Love the build.

Just one piece of advice/nit pick. When you get a chance, change those white cable ties out for black ones. The white ones deteriorate quickly and become very brittle in the heat.

Too Funny! That is exactly what I was planning on doing. Much of the wiring will be loomed after break-in, and all cable ties will be changed to black. You sound nearly as OCD as me....:grinpimp:

Jim, I haven' been ignoring you on purpose. Lots of scout stuff going on right now.

Truck looks fantastic! Any plans to do a body lift to get the rear tires away from the body?

Hauled it out to have an exhaust bent early in the week. Yesterday was the Line-x at Tarheel. Finished the wiring and fired the engine for the first time as well. Throttle cable tonight and movement under it's own power (fingers crossed).

Good lord Jim it's come a long way since I helped you with the bed last September.

Looking sharp.... too bad you aren't going to make the cruiser show tomorrow but i'll swing by another time to take a look at some point. Or i'm sure the lure of beer at Macs will get you and it over there at some point :grinpimp:

Changed the oil and greased all the fittings....I have been running 20w50 for many years and switched it back to 10w30 tonight....actually sounds a little smoother when idling.....I was going to go with the accel oil and actually called WPP and talked to them and they pretty much said to stick with what I was using, which is havoline, that even though the zinc levels are lower in the new formulas they still contain zinc and unless you have like a 1969 sports car there isn't any reason to switch, the benefits of the detergents are better off for the engines. He was real knowledgeable and I appreciated that he didn't try and convince to get something that I didn't need

New passenger side tie rod end. Old one was scary loose. Thankful it didnt come apart. 62 drives like a whole different truck.

Thought all the slop in steering was just normal for an old truck, found the bad TRE by accident while I had it jacked up swapping the tire. Could have been ugly. Got a new one from O'riely for $28 with a lifetime warranty

My neighbors son finally finished welding my cage together. Only took 2 months but it's done.

Also straightened up my plated bolt collection and finished installing my shop a/c.

Had it up to 80 so far. With the overdrive engauged in 4th gear, it was tacking just over 3200 rpm's. The 4.88's and 35's are singing at that speed though. Comfortable cruising is closer to 65 mph.

The 4.88's may eventually come back out, but the Low/Low is nice.

Jim you driving it to Colorado  and I am super jealous BTW, have a safe trip

I've only got 60-80 miles on the truck, so I'm hauling as far as Bailey, CO. We will dump the trucks and trailers there, and proceed towards parts unknown for a week. If I can figure out how, I'll start a post on the trip. There will be three trucks in total. Gabe (Gabe4Jlc) and a friend from Ohio make up the group.

Fuel filter tonight. O2 sensor had a different plug so I'll swap it tomorrow and pickup tint for passengers side
