We helped a neighbor install a dropper post today. And took a nap.
After the nap we put on this cbros bottle mount strap tool thing with a tubolito and a little ripstop bag with other trail chotch and gummy bears. Idk how well this tube will fare like this.
And then i took the tall boy for a ride and looked at this elephant tree. Smells like a mojito

Installed the daughters new bike seat this weekend. We upgraded from the Thule Yepp mini seat where shes strapped into it with a harness. I was expecting her to not want to ride on this one so quickly but after 30 seconds of getting used to it, we were off on a 2 mile ride.
Went and had my friend Jenna install some new cranks, CR, and new brakes on my SS.

I copied @OGBeno and got some brakes that work. The XTR's had a failing skirt seal in one of the levers, so some 2 piston XT's for the win. Love me some resin pads out here in the dry. Freedom Coast adapter with titanium bolts.
Did my final formal fit on the hummingbird. If anyone is on the fence about this whole process, definitely do it. I would have never set a bike up this way, but it feels good and it's FAST. It seems I am PR'ing something every time i ride it.. narrower bars, lower stem, shorter cranks. Couple more goodies to add lightness will swap in.
Had to make a tool to tighten the cable retention detail at the front of the triangle:
Long wera 3mm bit for comparison
Anyone like to nerd out about how you carry tools / gear on the trail? I am loving the packless life:

That's a nice saddle, and your bike gives me serious eggplant. But my pref for the MTB is a short seat. I tend to throw the bike around a lot, and I don't want it retaliating by tangling its long-nose seat in my clothes

Did you make it out the the SRS? Any pictures? Been a while but the area north of factory butte just south of middle wild horse mesa is one of the most amazing landscapes I have ever seen. Amazing on the moto but it had to be brutal on a pedal bike.

Dude she absolutely loves it. All she wants to do now is “go fast.” She’s 2.5 years old haha
Unfortunately no. My allergies started kicking in a few days before. So, I was in no mental state to go on a trip. Now, am back to weather watching and planning a new trip in the coming weeks.
It is an amazing area for sure. So much beauty in the western desert's!

I took off more brakes that don't work! Amazing how many sets of these I've gotten rid of...
Is it the plastic piston issue?
Yeah I’m also accepting the fact that SRAM brakes sort of suck…. Every set of codes I’ve had didn’t last and the The maven ultimates I had on my enduro were awful.

Nope, they actually resolved that a few years ago. My issues:
- Too much modulation, If I have the lever where I can reach it comfortably I can pull the lever to bar and still not have enough power. If you have big hands, no issue i guess, but I like the on/off feel of shimano
- DOT fluid belongs on cars. I don't want to deal with it around carbon and degassing it is tedious and sucks (literally). The bleed process is way more complicated than the gravity bleed that takes about 2 minutes on a set of shimano brakes.
Surprisingly, I didn't hate the mavens I tried the other day when I demo'd a Stumpy 15... they were certainly better than the current DOT fluid offerings and I like that they are going mineral oil on the new stuff... but the levers were still much too stiff in the freestroke. May too much hand fatigue
