What did you do with your bike this weekend?

Yeah, fortunately my hanger on the Epic E-Faux (the AXS bike) is UDH. Cheap and easy to find if you really f it up.

My Lynskey is another story. The hanger on that bike is bespoke (<-- right there's some serious word choice in action ) and made out of the crappiest pot aluminum that gives you MAYBE one re-alignment before snapping off.
I hate to say it, but the more I hear about Lynkey the less I like them. Bonded headset cups? No sliding dropouts? And now this?

New Frame day….

How you liking the Ohlins shocks? I've never had a chance to try them yet. But, would like to try something new on my next build.
they are awesome. i really like them. they are really tuneable and i can tell the difference most on the low speed compression/ rebound. very smooth! even more so than the fox on my wife’s bike

After 3 summers I’m done, really done with AXS…. It just sucks. Ordered transmission 90 derailleur and shift leaver to swap my X01 transmission to mechanical. I’ll update when the parts are in and installed.

now your got my interest!! i’ve never seen these but they look awesome!! do you need a special hub or can they work with standard hubs too? i havent researched at all so i just thought i’d ask instead!! 🤣

You can use any hub (j-bend or straight pull) but the j-bend need hub prep that is detailed on their web site (I did this once and it is easy). The set I just built I used the hooked hubs from Berd which make the build super easy. If you do a build, make sure you measure ERD very carefully to get the correct spoke length and use their calculator. The wheels with carbon rims are freaking light. Enough to be noticeable on rides.

Update, shift leaver and derailleur came in today. I’m going to swap out the X0 electric for these mechanical and keep the X0 crank+cassette+chain. Boring part, with fall fully set in and rain/snow in the forecast every day in the 14 day forecast, I think I’ll wait until spring to do the swap since the Evo is about to be put away for winter.

Who was I kidding. Over the weekend the weather turned nice and I made the swap. Again, I’m a firm believer internal cable routing is the worst thing the bike industry has done in the last 40 years. Other then routing the cable housing the set up was straight forward.

I’ve done 3 rides now and for me the mechanical transmission 90 is head and shoulders better then the AXS XO I had before. I’m pleased with the swap. Shifts are quick and crisp, ergonomics are way better. It shifts well under load. But thinking about it, sram finally figured out how to design a system that shifts as well as Shimano.
